AI"S Armies, where are they?

I've seen alot of armies in the games that I have played. (vannila though) Most of my games tend to drag well into the modern age though, maybe that has somthing to do with it. In the game Im playing right now, China has one or two of them.

The AI not building armies is a new bug in Conquests. In scenarios it will use the armies it starts with though, but not create new ones.

Yeahm I've seen many times, with old units. But not on C3C (well, I've played less than 10 times only on 1.0, and not interested to play it anymore)

1.0 is severely bugged. Perhaps you would like it better with 1.15 or 1.22. Still wrinkles like the lack of AI armies though.

This would explain why I haven't seen armies as I only really started playing Civ again when I got C3C.

Is this bug confirmed with Firaxis, or you jus tthing so?
I remember AI using armies agains me. (Japanese Samurai army attacked me).
But it's been some time ago and I don't remember what version of AI i used at the time.

I don't know its status with Firaxis but its certainly quite well known among the forum veterans.

But if you have seen an army in a Conquests epic game go ahead and post a screenshot.

The problem is laid on the "Speed".
I like to play with the biggest map with as many civ as possible. And its slow with C3C. Thx for the info, but I will stick with CivIII 1.29f or PTW 1.27f.

I am playing on M vs 12 AIs, there has been continuous wars from the start
 , with wars mostly against me (Celts) . I have smashed them
all with Gallic and AC armies ;) :hammer: . About 900BC- 100BC the AIs
all dogpiled the Mongols and during the protracted battle I saw "2" MGLs
produced   -- both were immediately destroyed by the attacking
AIs though, they seemed to make special effort to destroy them :aargh: .
I was really hoping to see what the Mongols did with them b/c they were
about to be destroyed  . I play C3C right out of box, Has anyone
else seen any MGLs in 1.00??? I only saw them very briefly, so I've started
to doubt myself :crazyeye: .

I don't think there's a problem with MGL's. I've seen plenty in C3C, both mine and the AI's. I think the only bug is that the AI doesn't build armies with it's MGL's.

Thanks wilbill for the quick reply ;) . :wavey: to a fellow NCarolinian :D .

Well I've played every version of civ 3 & I don't ever recall seeing an AI army! I have also been playing a ww2 scenario & edited the leaders so they only produce armies. I unchecked the hurry production icon. Well I have seen the AI with leaders but no army. So what gives do they ever build army's or what. Any feedback would be appreciated!

Yesterday I was playing in Warlord and the Iroquois took back a city I won from them with an army.

Ever since Conquests, the AI never uses Armies anymore. It will use any Leaders it gets to rush improvements/units rather than build them. Which means they won't be able to build the Military Academy either.

If you do that it cripples the AI strategy for leaders, it becomes greyed out in the editor. So it won't be able to use them for anything.

It's kinda funny that with every patch and revision to the game that comes out 1 bug is fixed and 3 more appear :(
