I haven't carried out any dedicated trials, but it appears that if you down an AI Transport to one or two HP with airstrikes or land-based artillery, the thing'll head home to heal without disembarking the troops it's carrying. In a game today, I repeatedly had Chinese transports head towards my shores, bombarded 'em with Artillery, and saw 'em sail home without ever unloading anything. A human opponent would, of course, simply disembark the troops untroubled by the fact that the Transport's HP is in the red. It can't be that hard to programme the AI to behave sensibly in this situation, can it? It does seem almost a cheat to exploit this as it is.

its like that with all AI militry units as soon as you danage them they return to tuhe nearest border to restore their health
and no this isnt classed as a cheat

yeah the AI does that, even if you tripple HP they'll send a unit that lacks only 1 HP home... :(

I've also seen transports just sit there after their escort warship is killed. Then next turn I kill the unescorted transport. Can't figure that out.

Obviously, it's not technically a cheat, but it is exploiting a weakness in the AI, which is what makes me feel slightly uneasy about using it systematically.

Again we see another reason why this AI is a freaking disaster.
