AIs cannot be Teammates?

Played a mp game for a few hours with no issues...yes!
Noticed that teammates had to have at least 1 human player, AIs could not be teamed.
Or did I miss something?
btw, I used my GOG version while my friend used his Steam version...now that was a pleasant surprise, as well.
Kudos to the 'devs' for great programming.

Hum, I'm not aware of any such limitations ? Maybe the UI was confused or something ? It should be possible for multiple AIs to be in the same team, I'll do some testing...
