Too confused to handle anymore variants for now.

continents, 70% water, arid, warm, 5 billion, 5 rivals, all VC, respawn on, normal aggression. Egyptians, Emperor, 5 rivals.

Too stoopid to keep track of any more variants. This should be natural progression from last game.

I've never made it far with Cleo (sorry if that's against forum rules. please advise and I'll edit) but I like efficient workers.

usual LK rules (please advise if you need more detail) 24 hour got it, 24 hour play. Vagrants welcome if someone axes for delay.

I'm a monomanical (this means i have the eye thingy right?) control freak, all querstions are subject to my rule. See location if this confuses anyone. :)

OK Admiral. Count me in. I haven't played with Cleopatra since Marc Antony left Alexandria for Rome.

Count me in! I'm getting to be a real AK-hanger-on ;)

I want to join, count me in.

I'm assuming standard map (or small?) You didn't mention that in the description.

Wow, you guys filled this up fast. You going to move that settler southeast a square? To the coast and to not cover up the BG?

Map is standard. Welcome aboard all. The cruise will depart later today.

Roster:
AK
Bede
Cuivienen
Kaiser Berger
Danz
Viper275

Since we're not seafaring, plan is to research pottery on max and see what develops.

4000 Since we're not going to get boats in the water anytime soon, decide to move inland for 1st city. worker SW, settler NW in that order.

3950 Found Thebes. Start Pottery at 80%

3900-3750 nothing

IT - warrior done, off to explore

3650 zzz

3600 find GH to north

3550 hut spews barbs, 1 attacks, warrior redlined

3500 find bonus food

3450 zzz

3400 kill barb #2. Lux to 10%

IT warrior completes

3350 lux back to zero

3300 Meet Spain. Appears they've taken out barb #3. BW, Alphabet, WC to trade. Only deal they're willing to make is pottery for 12g. Since we'll learn it next turn, don't bother.

IT learn pottery, start Mysticism. Science at 10%. Thebes: warrior -> settler

3250 zzz

3200 pop hut to NE, more barbs

3150 whack a barb

IT barb #3 attacks, dies

3100 2 warriors out exploring, one following rivers, other following coast. Need to get one headed west in the future

3050 find silks to north (@ Bede - war chariots and silks, now you just need grapes) ;)

3000 Meet the Russians. Cathy has BW, Alphabet, WC, Mysticism. Will only trade WC for all our g and all our gpt. Spain will make same deal, has same techs. Have done enough damage, stop.

I was thinking about putting the settler pump 2 tiles SW of where AK said and putting a worker factory 2 tiles NW of where AK planned the settler farm. Remember that when the forest is chopped down and irrigated, Game produces 5 fpt in grassland (not in Despotism though.) You can see one that would be exactly like that in the fog. 2 hills will work for production, so it looks like a natural site to me. If we leave the second game on the forest, that's 6 fpt which can support the citizen gained when it grows on a mined plains square (or a forest.)

The worker farm I think needs the flood plain wheat, which when irrigated produces 6 fpt, but we can mine it. Then mine the cow and the hills, and I think that'll be enough, although we could put somebody on the mountains.

Cows, wheat, game, three luxuries, and four rivers in sight, one with floodplains. Not a bad start, I say. This will be rich. If we can settle it all fast enough ;)

Got it. Ten tonight.

0-3000BC

Our technology situation is not good. We are researching the already known at minimum with 45 turns to go and I have to ask where did those bozos pick up bricklaying? Russia must have learned it from some yokels and traded it off to Isabella. Judging from the conscript warriors in blue and olive they have indeed been busy hitting up the local yokels and since the two are close together they do indeed know each other.

I can't touch Alphabet for what we have in the treasury.

Need to get the boyos out exploring. We need to find a sucker somewhere and change direction. Tell the priests to get cracking on wheels and build big fires so they work 24/7.

2950BC
Discover there are two(!) warriors taking their ease with the temple virgins in the capitol. Send one out with the settler and the other heads west.

2850BC
The neighbors have been really busy beating up on yokels. Russia now has another 25g and so does Spain.

2800BC
Found Memphis on the hill between the two suggested sites. I don't want to put a town on a floodplain.

Westbound warrior spots a village.

2750BC
Find the Russian and Spanish borders in the north. They are so close together they could be cousins....let's hope they intermarry and breed idjits.

Westbound walks into the village and wakes up three Cimmerian hostiles. Maybe he'll get promoted.

2710
Hostiles fortify in place and Westbound Wally climbs a mountain.

2670
Spain beats us to the wheel.

Westbound Wally has morphed into Northbound Norm.

Can't buy wheels and don't want to buy what Russia already knows till we have more friends.

2630
Shut off research until we meet somebody.

2590
Exploring west, north and east.

2550
Northbound warrior finds a Seljuk encampment.

Settle on the hill as indicated below. Gets river access, two game, lots of plains and hills for mining. We lose the mined hill bonus but the river access is worth it and it is one foot soldier move from Memphis which is one from Thebes.

About the only thing we can do with the rotten technology position is keep exploring and hope we meet some more folks. I wouldn't be spending money on researching anything. We need to meet somebody really ignorant with lots of cash, preferably two somebodies.

Six warriors against two opponents with spears?

no, later, after we get WC, IW, BW. Although I could give the warriors billiard balls and teach them a rudimentary form of artillery...
