1250- We get another leader. I suggest another cav army. I'll leave it up to next player.

Summary

Russia is nearly dead. This game is in the bag. We just have decide how to win.

How about this, we control all of our continent then take some of the other continent and get domination. Sound okay?

Just got back from a busy RL weekend. I'll play my turns in the next 24.

Any suggestions from the team? Do we want to do anything fancy here or just stomp on the Vikings and secure a cheap domination win? A slightly more challenging stomp would be the Germans. Or we could try something completely different. Any ideas?
 
It's going to take both the Scandanavians and the Germans so better prepare for some serious warfare.

Lots o' boats and a settler in each one....

Even though we are religious temples still cost 1gpt in maintenance, so rather than build temples in the homeland to close the cultural borders, build settlers. Costs the same but contributes to unit support costs and adds at least 1gpt to the treasury. Those far northern towns are so corrupt they don't need more than nine well irrigated fields to be productive (tax farms).
 
Ok, I'll get on it tonight. I came back this weekend and I was up in all 4 of the SG's I'm playing. Go figure :)

Played only 3 turns so far, got a lot of RL to catch up with, but will continue tonight. There's so much to MM. I'll probably spend all my turns railing, clearing brush, building courthoses, and so on. I'll try to start assembling a fleet on our North coast so that Viper can have some fun going after the Germans. The Germans are looking pretty strong, so I'm trading with the Vikings. They were missing saltpeter and most luxuries. All they have is incense (and a lot of attitude).
 
1.1260. MM a bunch of cities. We have a lot of workers! As they improve tiles, cities need to work different combinations of tiles, depending on their food and shield output requirements. No trades available. Russia is almost dead. Their island town presents a small problem since we have no navy (good thing AK is not here to see this, hehe). Building a few galleons.

2.1265. Continue MM. Take Russia city.

3.1270. Printing Pres + 36g from England for Magnetism. They're allies of Germany, so the Germans would have sold it to them eventually. Take last Russian city on our continent.

IT. 2 Russian longbows make a Rambo-style landing using a galley.

4.1275. Troops from mainland land on island we share with Russians. 5 cavs and 3 artillery s probably overkill.

5.1280. Finish Replaceable Parts, making workers more efficient. We can now road in 1 turn, irrigate in 1.5, and mine/rail in 2. Scientific Method in 4. MM is taking even more time now, because cities now look completely different from turn to turn. First two cav attacks wipe out Russian empire from the planet. And then there were four.

IT. Citizens expand palace.

6.1285. The Vikings finally have some cash to spend. Sell them Printing Press for 18gpt + 3g and sell WM for 2gpt + 1g. Sell Medicine to England for 34gpt + 27g.

7.1290. More MM.

8.1295. Finish Scientific Method. London is finishing a factory next turn, it can build the ToE.

9.1300. London starts building Theory of Evolution, due in 14. Research is due in 9, which can not be sped up enough to finish 2 techs but can be slowed down to 13 so that we waste no beakers when ToE completes.

10.1305. I've been doing a lot of building and a lot of tile improvement and MM. Our core has stopped growing and hs been managed so that cities ave max production and a stable food supply. Lots of civil enginers have been hired in food-rich areas to speed up construction. Clearing last potential city spot on continent, swamp near rubber resource. One of our maxed-out cities can pop out a settler whenever the tile is cleared. Doesn't matter which one, everything is railed. Mot of our core has all possible improvements and is starting to build infantry. Obsolete troops have been upgraded, so now our worst unit is cavalry. There is an unused Leader camping out in the North close to our Army. few galleons are circling the Southern tip of the continent, preparing to head to Germany. We could probably use anter couple of galleons and fill them up with infantry. Germany is down Replaceable Parts but has Communism and Feudalism. Enjoy!

One question, should we try to get to a different government like Communism and revolt because we get a 1-turn anarchy?
 
I like the Communism idea. Our empire is too big for a Republic at this point. The only issue is improvements. Our core has banks, factories, and universities, while the outlying cities are lucky to have a courthouse and a temple. So, accepting higher corruption in the core for lower corruption in the periphery may actually hurt us.

It depends on the bigger decision: how do you want to win? Peace or war? If we're going to stay at peace and go for Space, let's go for Democracy. That will lower corruption a bit and increase our research rate. But if you want to kick some German butt, then by all means go Commie!
 
Communism will let us choose our victory condition, war or space. Put the SPHQ in either the capitol or the FP city and the impact on the core is minimal and the outliers will really take off. The downside is the accumulation of cash which can't be used for improvement or unit rushing. It is handy for tech buying, otherwise.
 
Heh, it's wierd not having any real adversaries. Germany is bogged down by a long war with the Vikings, and the English are irrelevant. So, there's no diplomacy or espionage worth paying for. We'll out-research them all, no matter what.

Here's a thought. We pay for happiness until every city is in WLTKD. Our corruption should go down.

Then we can build an army and get a domination win, or sit back and build a space ship, like you were saying.
 
I think I'll go to Communism then (buy it from Germany?) Also, there's an MGL sitting around. Do we plan to rush a small wonder with him or make an army with tanks?
 
Use him for the SPHQ
 
The best thing about the MGL is he looks way cooler than a military unit, and no upkeep :)
