Alien invasion of earth

The last time I played civ 2 was in some variant where Aliens were one of the seven civs. You could even play as the aliens on that planet map instead of earth. When your ship reaches Alpha Centauri you had to duke it out with the aliens to finish the game.

I thought it would be fun to play the aliens, and speed through by myself and then invade earth. Problem, when my ship landed it just dropped units onto the Alpha Centauri map I had started on.

I never got back to it, but recently playing Civ 6 had me thinking about it again. Is there any mod or fix for that version of the game that would allow the Alien player to land their units (from spaceship) on the earth map instead of where you (the alien player) start to begin with..?

I had started an alien invasion scenario quite a while ago (ages ago, it seems), but never finished it (it's unfinished version is still on my hard drive). Though I had two distinct factions of aliens, not one, and there was no Alpha Centauri part, and it was a pure scenario.

But, it strikes me now you're referring to the Extended Original mod that comes with Civ2: ToT out of the package. Since they did their mods in a different format than scenarios are done in, I'm not sure how that would be arranged. @PlutonianEmpire has made a comprehensive mod for ToT that's not a scenario, but actually a mod, and might have more understanding on this particular concept.
