I got this game for a long time, but when I had it first, it didn't work on my computer. Never thought of installing it when I had my next computer, 3.5 years ago.

So I started a campaign as marine...
Damn, that is intense! I've never been so nervous for a game since I played Doom against another human for the first time, and that must be at least eight years ago! Eventually I died in the first level because I came into a ventilator. Those Xeno...aliens aren't really that tough actually. Though I do play on the easy level.

I'm really gonna love this game. :D

By the way, I have two questions:
As Marine do you have an unlimited supply of flares? If not, how can I see how many I have?
I picked up a number of pulse rifles. Is that the same as the weapon you start with? I can't select another weapon namely.

Can't say I agree with that! I got the game free with a PC games subsciption, having never played it when it first came out.

Upon installing, and starting I just laughed in its face. The levels are really boxy and plain, the AI really dumb and the combat fairly.... unsatisfying. And what's up with those movies on the TV screens? They look like they were filmed in some guys basement! I just uninstalled it straight away.

I'm not saying it was never a good game, it's just hasn't aged very well. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm playing Doom 3 right now....

I have seen AvP 2, and that actually looked good though.

Just my Final Thought.

For me, games don't age. :p
They can be succeeded, but quite often that's not an improvement, except for graphics. But I have a funny meaning when it comes to graphics.

This game is really scary! Perhaps I'm a weenie, but it's a fact. Haven't played it much though; it's just my first impression. :)

Game isnt really Doom 3 scary. The game forces you to complete objectives as quickly as possible because there unlimited spawning of aliens throughout the level.

At the same time, theres alot of vents and few well placed facehuggers throughout the game that can make it more than dreadful for you to be rushing thru the game. But the point is, you really have to. That's what makes it scary IMO. Dreading of dying... especially since you cant quicksave every second like you can with Doom3.

AVP has all the scare factor Doom3's missing, but its missing what Doom has. Nice scripted scenes and gruesome and scary atmosphere that doom 3 does so well. AVp maps are nice and dark and you often hear xenomorphs in the background, but other than that game atmosphere just isnt that scary.

As for AI, both AIs are incredibly dumb. Doom3's AI are so dumb you can get away with killing omst monsters one on one with a flashlight.

xenomorphs arent that scary because theyre easy kills when confronted 1 on 1. But they do high damage to you and ability to crawl walls make them hard target to detect soemtimes. xenomorphs can sometimes be seen stuck between wall and ceiling as it randomly tries to path its way toward you. (something about wall crawl thats buggy it seems). They seem to really have no plans on how to sneak up behind you. They just move everywhere, but they move so fast. So with unlimited xenomorphs on the map, a couple is guranteed to travel thru the vents and scare the heck out of you by headbiting right behind you, while couple just disappoint you with fine example of poor AI implemented in the game.

I know we're talking about the game n' all, but has anyone seen the movie?¿? I haven't and some people say it's really good.
I really want to see that. But the game sounds better. :p

How'd ya get the upsidedown question marks?

Ya I've played it. Pulse Rifle is the first gun you got. I think.

I always love being the alien, jumping from walls to the ceiling and back again is so fun. The single player part is pretty dull(Bad AI and stuff) but Multiplayer just kicks butt

They're two movies actually:
Alien (1979)
Predator (1987)

I've seen them both.
Alien is very thrilling and was intensely thrilling when it came out in 1979. It was an epoch.
Predator is famous for being the most bloody Schwarzenegger movie. Also thrilling, by the way.

He's in Europe. AvP probably isn't going to come out for another month where he's at.

Is AvP2 any better then the first game?

Dude it like just came out in theaters and everyone I know that saw it thinks it rox totally. Go see the movie be4 u give ur opinion though.
I said "My guess is...", since it's more then a rip-off; they're stolen themes. But I'll see what the general opinion in the Netherlands is.

There, like you just said it: "it's two different movies put together" = not new/not original. :p

Ah well, it might be a good movie all the same, but it's something that makes me reserved. ;)

Well that doesn't make it any less good... Just because it's like a sequel doesn't hurt it's value any. LOTR 3 did the best ever and out of its trilogy.

But it is not really a sequel, it is more of a crossover. Imagine if they had Neo vs. Jedi. :crazyeye:

Alien Vs Predator isn't just some cheep holywood crossover! The movie itself is good, and after the initial movies came out, Dark Horse comics started geting into the franchise. The thing is, the two species exist in the same Sci-Fi universe. The predators had been hunting Humans and Aliens for eons, you can see in the movie that there are hints of the backstory that the more devout fans know of.
