Alternatives to increase science

hey all,

So I have this mod, where one of the changes I've made is that science is no longer strictly linked to population (so 1 science for every 1 population no longer exists)...

To compensate (somewhat) I increased specialists yields (5 science per scientist) and made them available earlier.

However, this is not anywhere near enough. So I'm going to look for other ideas. Preferably

- Do not involve base tile yields (how is this different to linking it to population)
- Does not involve giving libraries say +3 science (Makes large empires better for no real reason)
- Does not involve anything lua (Just plain beyond my modding abilities)

My options are currently
- Some sort of new tile improvement, no idea what though (or what to call it).
- Whatever people come up with in this thread !
