Is it normal for the map to contain so little iron and other vital resources? For example; I explored the whole map and only found TWO iron spots AND only one salpeter spot (using huge map)

I restarted the game and generated new maps about 6 times since I bought the Special Edition and still get VERY little of these resources. What is up with that? It really ruins the game if you cannot find the resources for hours and hours at a time.

Not my experience. I saw no shortage of Iron or Saltpeter (or rubber or oil, for that matter.) Normal map at Warlord level.

Some of the resources appear later in the game, when you have researched more.
