Amazon taking forever with shipping

Ordered my copy of the pre-release version over a week ago - they took more than 5 days to ship it, and it looks like I won't have it till Tuesday...

Amazon is usually very fast with shipping, so I'm wondering if they had to go through the boxes to switch French Tech trees with English, hence the delay. Or maybe too many people ordered pre-release version, and they had to order more into their stock? Pisses me off a little, because I could be playing already, instead of reading about people playing...

Someone posted in this forum saying that there had been a delivery delay to Amazon, so on Oct 25th Amazon had nothing to ship. I pre-ordered on Oct 2nd but on Oct. 27th, it still hadn't shipped and wasn't estimated to ship until the 29th.

I think people who took advantage of the free delivery offer got bumped down in priority. A couple people posted that they had pre-ordered in mid-October, with two-day shipping, and by October 27th their order had been shipped.

Several people mentioned that complaining to Amazon netted them free two day shipping, or a free upgrade to one day shipping, or even a $10 discount coupon on their next Amazon order.

I didn't mess with that. I cancelled my order and bought the pre-sell edition off the shelf at Gamespot.

On a possibly related matter, I ordered a book and a CD from Amazon on the 24th. Both shipped quickly (25th and 27th) but by US Postal Service (instead of UPS) and this might explain why I haven't received them yet. It could be that the Postal Service is simply slower (unless you have paid for priority).
