Ambitious God Mod ^^

With some help I've created a rough Neopagan Religion, some of the Asatru, Satanism, and Rastafari Movement... I'll even add the Shinto religion if I get the OK from Dual. I could also use some help in Python scripts, XML, and Graphics.

There will also be one militant unit for all religions for each age or so... I think they are called UUs...

Anyways this is adopted from an earlier idea that i found while combing through the forums.

Alot of people have done this so its possible... i'm giving every religion i create and that has been created on the pack i.e: When the state religion is christianity and you conquer a city, Christianity will be added and a free Inquisitor unit will be supplied.

Also every religion has a unique unit just like a leader does, totalitarian cult where the leader is worshipped has Secret Police as a unit... thats just an example

Add ideas for a religion... so far here are the ones that will defnitly be added:

-Zoroastrianism
-Neopaganism

This one is already being made for Civ:

-Asatru

And These Ones are Up for Arguement

-Totalitarian Cult
-Atheism
-Sikhism

These are ones that MIGHT be put in
-Shinto
-Rastafari
-Satanism

These Ones are a definate No
-Luciferianism (Anti-Christianity)

1. I'm not sure if making luciferianism and satanism is a good idea... These aren't religions very popular and they could offend someone.... Shits like faschizm, stalinism (unless you're makking proper scenarios f.e. WWII), satanism and other crappy things should be banned....
2. Why you have opened another thread? - this is forth tread you've opened wich mentions about religions

Oh sorry i didn't want to offend you John Stalin mentioning about Stalinism but in my coutry we suffered from this idiot, he killed more people than hitler (wich also made pane and suffer for poland) and now this massmurderer is in new add for CIV4

I don't believe in god
so it's hard to say if yours is better than mine (especially if i don't know wich god you believe - i hope it's not Lu Cypher

but i think some religions don't make any good for people and mankind like lucyferianism and i don't think it's best idea to put them to game... but it's free will of the author if he want's lucyferianism in the game.... but remember - someone other could feel offended by this mod

the same goes for ideologies - stalinism, faschism, nazism, as i said some exeptions could be made, but only to help others to understand what bad people can do to others, not to make this seak ideas more popular

And sorry for the new thread but the others were actually not... mod threads more whining... my second specialty >< anyways... could someone download the shinto mod and turn the Art Files into PNGs for me? Two options for Atheism:

1. Create an Atheism religion mod for those who want it, leave it at that

2. Make Atheism different, Have a simple building for Atheism an let Atheism be shown on the city screen and city bar.

Did you tried DXTBmp is easy to use... If you still have a problem with programs I could turn artwork for .png (.bmp?) for you

I think you can make luciferianism and satanism as a addon - basic version could be without this religions, and there be also patch adding them to the mod
or make mod with both religions and make patch removing them
like in this mod with WW2 - patch removing swastikas

Atheism on its own has never really been a state religion, so I'd say avoid it. You could, however, have a religion for worship of the state - Totalitarianism, or Cult of Personality.

The missionaries could be the KGB.

yeah but i think i'm gonna add it as as an optional add on... because Karl Marx was an athiest and his "ideal government" was free of religion. And incase anyone wants to test out his ideal government it is possible... I think Freud might have also been athiest buts thats totally unrelated

This seems like a good mod, but I have one issue - why such a focus on relatively uncommon religions like Neopaganism, Asatru, and Rasta?

Take a look at this article on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_religion. According to it, there are only an estimated 1 million Neopagans and only 600,000 Rastas in the world today. This pales in comparison to religions like Sikhism (23 million), Bah&#225;'&#237; Faith (7 million), Jainism and Shinto (at about 4 million each). Even Zoroastrianism, whose heyday was some 2500 to 1500 years ago and which in its orthodox form does not accept converts, still has more followers than both of Neopaganism and Rasta combined (2.6 million).

Please don't think I'm trying to criticize you or discourage you from doing this mod - that's not it at all. I guess I'm just disappointed that nobody but me seems to be interested in adding religions like Bah&#225;'&#237; and Sikhism that are much more common and influential than neopaganism and Rasta, which receive a lot of attention because of their challenge of the norms of Western culture but in real terms still remain relatively scarce.

er well... it was originally because I am Neopagan, my friend is Rasta, my other friend is athiest, and his gf is satanist ^^ they all play Civ4 >.> but see i'm going to add those too... especially Zoroastrianism... matter of fact i'm updating the first post

Officially, yes. But if you paid attention to what I said before declaring me wrong, I claimed that there were alternate forms of religion. In post-WW2 years, Mao had a Cult of Personality. Now, China is, as far as I can tell, a state with a plurality of religions, some of which are approved (state Catholicism, for example) and some of which aren't (Falun Gong).

So what? The Japanese attacked Australia, and had they had their way during WWII, would've added the Australian people to their slave labour camps. Does that mean I get outraged by the fact that the Japanese are included in Civ 4? No. It's a part of history; sure Stalin was a mass-murdering, evil tyrant, he was a scum bag and deserved a horrible death, but that doesn't mean he should be left out. Just because I might play him, or take up Germany in a WWII scenario, doesn't mean I agree with what they did. I feel for the Polish, and many other nationalites, who lost their lives in the attrocities, but that doesn't mean a HISTORICAL game should walk on egg shells.

I'm sorry, but **** worrying about offending people. Oh dear, we can't have Satanism, it's just morally incorrect! Christians might start crying! Satanism EXISTS, whether you like it or not. If you don't like it, and it offends your sense of right and wrong, then DON'T PLAY THE MOD, it's that simple. Don't deprive others who aren't so uptight.
