Amenities from Zanzibar

I have two cities. One, Aachen, has the evil red pavilion displayed, and shows -1 Amenity. I noticed this, then sent 6 envoys to Zanzibar, which supposedly supplies me with 6 Amenities each from Cinnamon and Cloves. Next turn and Aachen is receiving no benefit from these Amenities (still at -1.)

Is this just broken or am I missing something?

Your missing things.

Amenities are given out to multiple cities, not stacked in one city. So the '6 amenities' means 1 amenity each for 6 cities. If you have less than 4 cities, you're basically wasting amenities from normal luxuries.

Ok fair enough; still it seems that if I was at -1 in one of my two cities, that upon becoming Suzerain over Zanzibar, that I should no longer be at -1 the following turn? If not, why?

look at the list of amenities in the city.

are you at war and generating war weariness?

are you actually the suzerain of Zanzibar? just because you send 6 envoys doesn't mean you got the suzerain bonus. an AI could have more envoys than you there.

Not at home anymore so I can't look, but I was indeed at war at the time, and I was indeed the suzerain of Zanzibar. Just seems to me that adding the two amenities from the CS should have removed the -1 Amenity no matter what since I only had 2 cities.

The war ended with me adding several cities so even when I resume playing I won't be able to answer the rest of the question. I just wanted to try and figure out if Zanzibar's amenities were functioning as advertised/whether issues were known with this.

Did you recheck it on the next turn? One of the more annoying things about the game is that not every yield updates in real time. If you Suzerain Zanzibar this turn its amenities may not register until next turn.

The 'next turn' issue with this game is a seemingly endless source of confusion for many players. Myself included.

Yes, I went two or three turns after hitting End Turn upon gaining Suzerainty over Zanzibar before making this thread. The amenity for Aachen remained at -1 at least that long and I didn't look again until after the war ended several turns later.

Unfortunately I doubt I will be able to recreate the exact circumstances. Oh well. Thanks for the replies.

PATCH THIS! AND BALANCE THINGS! AND FIX MAP HUES! GEEZ, we don't need another 2 civs more scenarios, we need to have the things fixed that should have been fixed during beta-testing.

Seriously, guys. I think we're on our own here and need good modders to address the issues that everyone (well, majority) have with the game. Corporate seems to only be interested in things that have more $-appeal.

This may be the edition of the Civ franchise where we stop paying the company for additional content and start paying modders for their content.

Chill out. The poster isn't even sure that there is a problem in the end. In this thread your comment is mass hyperbole.

As to updating info; if you're not getting the benefit till the next turn it is best that the game reflects that... given some around here like to micromanage.
