American Great Prophet Automatically Purchased When Set To Remind Me Later

I want to stockpile my religion points for later purchases of Great Merchants in this game. But every time my religion account reaches the threshold for a Great Prophet, it automatically spends nearly all my religion points to purchase a Great Prophet. This happens even though in the religion page I have the Automatic Faith Purchase set to Remind me later.

Haven't opened the save file, but you probably aren't in the Industrial era yet. Prior to entering the Industrial Era, "Remind me later" does nothing -- Great Prophets will be auto-generated unless you have affirmatively selected a specific religious unit or building. Simply put, you can't hoard pre-Industrial faith for Industrial Era Great Person purchases.

Unless of course you haven't founded a religion.

That only works if there are no more religions to found. If you've spawned Great Prophets and have chosen to settle them as Holy Sites instead of founding and enhancing a religion, you will continue to spawn Great Prophets until no more religions can be founded.
