This is in response to the strategy of filling the coast with units (or workers!) to prevent a landing before Marines.

Give all units the ability to make amphibious assaults, but at a huge reduction in attack power like -80% or -90%. Units with amphibious ability would be able to attack at full strength.

Good idea!

damn good idea...

as a thought it was infantry who made the normany landings was it not?? 80% reduction in attack strength would be a fair reflection of the absolute floggin these troops took..

Good idea, I have one remark though, what about workers improving the coastline? You'll practically have to guard every one of them. If an enemy ship shows up, it can be too late...

Anyway, good idea

Good Idea. THat would work good for a D-Day Scenario :).

This was mentioned in another thread, but it bears repeating - what about requiring amphibious landings to occur only on flat terrain (grasslands, plains, & desert). This reduces the efficacy of the 'land eight infantry on a mountain and wipe out their armies' tactic, while being more realistic to boot (amphibious landings are very, very difficult things). It also makes helicopters and paratroopers more useful for cross-channel assaults.

I've said many times before. The AI's naval strategies need to be revamped for AI invasions to be effective. And I really really hope they do it, or a lot of the possible conquests scenarios that involve any amount of amphibious landings simply won't play very well.
