An Expansion pack before Civ4 is released

Do you want a new expansion pack before Civ 4 comes out?

It is still a very long time till Xmas 2005. I think they should have a new expansion pack in between now and Dec. 2005.
What do you think?

I'd buy it. I love CIV. And i would like not only new patches for bugs (sub bug etc), but new units also (some of them already in conquests scenarios) zero movement train-mounted artillery for one :P (with zero movement you can have that arty being able to move only on RR :)

and also MORE MODERN UNITS. Its kinda boring that you have only #$)(""!= units in industrial/modern era. I like the machinegunner idea from WWII scenario (pre-tow) as well as I'd like to see a Combat Engineer (can build arifields, bunkers etc. but has attack defence) and a Special Forces unit. Oh, and a different dive and carpet bomber please (too like in WWII conquest scenario). Carpet bombers cannot kill units but damage, while dive bombers can.

Considering there is almost nobody at Firaxis working on patching Conquests at this date, I think it is safe to assume that another expansion is out of the question. It takes a year (and more!) to put together a decent X-pack, so even if they started today, you wouldn't see it until Christmas, 2005.

I would much rather they keep their "Civ Team" working on Civ4, making it the best Civ to date! :)

They can hire more people and get a team going

No offence Verowin but you are joking right?
We have enought Bugs already with C3C that will not get fixed. Also they are working on a complete version of CIV3 as they said,it will be released fall IIRC.It will be CIV3 with PTW and C3C.So here is the third ''expansion''.

No offense taken!
what is the difference between that version and C3C?
Do you have a link on some more info?

-CIV3 Complete- (Name of the version) will include PTW and C3C plus the patch v1.22.
Links i don't have,sorry.

No official date, but people are assuming late 2005

The fundamental problem with starting another expansion pack would be that taking on another project would divert the energies of Firaxis even more. They're already also working on the sequal to Pirates! and, though that project appears to be nearing completion, we really want all hands working on Civ 4. It's probable that Atari will push Firaxis into a holiday season 2005 release for Civ 4 in the same way that they pushed Firaxis into a holiday season 2001 release for Civ 3, so unless we want to see Civ 3 1.07 again, I really think that it would be wise to defer any more expansion packs.

nmcu, you sound like you are one of the programmers. Where do you get all this wisdom? :bday: What else can you tell us?

Gosh, I hope and cry for a final patch for C3C, and you ask for an expansion... :crazyeye:

Yes, I really would like another expansion pack, and I'd like to see a lot more optional advances for specific civs from all the scenarios, such as Blood Cult and Assassination. I'd also like to see a lot more variety of units, like the ones in the teturkhan mod, so you have area specific units.

I agree. I don't want an expansion, I want a patch.
