Anarchy as a Goverment

Anyone realy tried anarchy as a goverment? i personaly think its d best goverment sure u dont collect taxes but u dont need taxes cuz city improvements dont cost maintenance.You Can get Money by taking enemy cities.Any one thinks so otherwise?

Is it even possible to stay in anarchy? I thought you got kicked into a real government when the next odeo year appeared.

I think you have to pick a government as well in the oedo years... You could always revolt back again the next turn of course, but that would get kind of tedious to do every few turns.

You do have to "pick" a gov in the Oedo years. (and anarchy is not a choice) Why would you even want to stay in anarchy??? its horrible. no coins, no production, no science (I think), and massive corruption. Despotism is bad enough. IIRC, anarchy is just a perion of unrest between goverments.

Yes But if ur empires realy big it takes several years and there is coin,science and production on the cities near ur capital city

You could prolong anarchy indefinitly by engineering your own government collapse in Democracy.Then just keep at least 1 city rioting and it will go on as long as you like.

I can't see any reason to do so.Periods of anarchy can be useful to a Republic or more for a Democracy but not indefinitly

Care to elaborate on when anarchy is useful?

I would add to the list of undesireable traits that you collect resources as per despotism.

Has anyone ever played (and won!) a game in despotism from beginning to end?

I'm sure its been done, probably by Conquest. One nice thing about Despotism: each citizen will support a military unit for free. If you built a very tight network of cities with high production, used caravans to get extra gold and beakers, and had no restarts or large map it should not be too hard. Space ship would be harder, but just might be an issue of a lot more time and trading.

Yes players have done the Despo only game to success.You'll be happy to know it done OCC Despo as well.

The advantage to periods of Anarchy are mainly military.When you want to to attack but your dove loving Senate will not allow it.Just overthrow the government and make your moves.Might as well time the year before an oedo year to minimize the duration or have SoL.
