Anarchy length... How long?

What are the factors that determine how long you are in anarchy once your government falls? I know Statue of Liberty's effects and all that, but I can't find it written down. Can anyone help a old soul with an embarrassing newbie question?

It seems you never heard of OEDO years. Have a look at http://www.civfanatics.com/civ2sscsgs.shtml

I don't remember exactly where it is explained, but if I'm not wrong Oedo years are every four turns.
I'd advise you to perform a search with "oedo"...

Its a simple pattern.Starting at 4000BC,the pattern is XXXo.So,on diety level turns, the government will change on 3850BC,3650BC,3450BC,3250BC etc.Just hold your revolution at the end of the turn BEFORE an "oedo" year and you will never have extended periods of anarchy again.

Oedo years are great. You can also use them to help you do a "nasty deed" in democracy where your government will fall if you get caught stealing a tech from "friendly" civ's city. If you do the nasty on the turn before an Oedo year, your gov will still fall, but on the very next turn you can go back to democracy. Of course, this does not help your reputation, but if your not worried about that......
