Animal Crossing Mafia - Town Wins

could someone explain the votes on me? they seem out of seeming no where. also so villager says they don't want to explain their reads and such but you gotta look at things from my perspective.

how am I supposed to defend? what do I defend? I fail to see how me thinking what Winston did as scummy makes me scummy. that is a rabbit hole of wifom that is too complicated for me. i think it's unnecessary confusion. and I don't think someone who is town should try to make things confusing.

anyway it was and is early in day 1.

You don't have to defend. Just play your game and I might change my mind. D1 of a mafia game runs a high risk of Town being mislynched for bad reasons; that's just part of the game if you're town. Nobody expects you to be able to concoct a town-clearing defense of yourself.

As for Winston, just because it seems like common sense that town shouldn't be confusing, doesn't mean that town are never confusing. It seems like too easy a reason to suspect someone, is my general reason for finding your suspicion suspicious. If you're town, I simply disagree with you on Winston's gimmick being scummy.

Do you have any thoughts on the posting of other players?
 
I will say that I suspect Hollowkatt's confident townread of me might be scum-indicative. It feels off to me that he agrees with my DaisyCloud sus so readily but doesn't vote on it or pursue it further. Stewing on it for now.
 
On balance, though, I still think DaisyCloud is more likely scum than Hollowkatt, and I am maintaining DaisyCloud as my top suspicion.

I am going to be irritated if LordArgon flips town for basically trolling the game and robs me of seeing a flip on one of my actual scumreads.

To be clear, my read on LordArgon is more likely trolling town than scumclaiming scum. However, it does bother me that his scumclaiming hasn't bothered Daisy, so they could be compatible as partners.

I mean you're dead wrong though and here's why.

If each player alive starting D2 gives cop cover even if that fake peek is on a wolf, when the real cop dies all the fake peeks go away, and the real cop has left results in the thread.

Seems like the people executing the strat at your site didn't do it right, or the wolves won before the cop died.
Either way, it's 100% a solid strat IF everyone does it.
 
Okay okay fine I will stop pretending to be mafia. I guess with all the new people I can't do my normal day one mischief. I will still claim town or in hopes of providing cover.

It's not quite this simple. Too many fake innocents on mafia can lead to the cop getting hunted faster than they otherwise would've been, and it's still WIFOM at that point whether the cop got correctly killed for bad cover reasons or for other reasons. There are certainly situations where everybody leaving fake peeks makes the cop hunt easier for mafia rather than harder. The benefits of fakepeeks are: soft clears when VTs die with correct fake peeks (cop hunt clear or seer hunt clear), and the cop being able to leave peeks every day rather than only on the day of hardclaim. It's not clearly beneficial in every situation; even when apparently well-executed, it can end up having been a mistake.
 
Also, can anybody help me spot a few tells of the not-townies? I am having a hard time keeping up with so many posts and cannot yet determine what gives away what side is a certain player

If you're a new player and have randed Town, i would suggest you read through the thread, quote posts that stick out to you, and comment on how they stuck out, and whether you find it scummy or towny. Gut impressions are fine. If you have randed Mafia, please claim so so we can execute you swiftly and painlessly.
