That happens to you a lot, doesn't it?

Random maps are pretty fun, but i hope someone will make a scenario map for this mod...

How many units are you adding for it?

I don't know at the moment. Each civ will have the same number of units, including one unique unit. There will be flavour units as well, though. I've been a regular downloader of units from this forum, so I'm going through them at present, trying to see how many I can add.

Before anyone asks, the difference between the unique units and flavour units, certainly in this mod at least, is that the flavour units will have identical stats to it's peers, whereas the unique units will be slightly better in some aspect (attack, defense, movement) than it's peers.

mind fillign me in on who exactley is "emperor antiochus"- I've never heard of him, and his has a Greek name on top of it.

Oops, I meant to put Tiberius in there. I was considering doing an Antiochus leaderhead, but didn't get around to it this time out.

I durelly suggest emperors Augustsu, Vespasian, or Trajan for universall yliked and qualified emperor- Tiberius was hated, even though he did do a good job over all, no on eliked him, and his directlyl responsible for screwing up his successor, Caligulas, mind when he was a child,. causing no end of grief for the empire.

Trajan it is then  .

why th erolls eyes- all three of the above leaders are levals above Tiberius; AUgustus- founde rof empire, political master of Rome, beloved by the citizenry wqhen even ST. Paul was proud to be a Roman citizen

Vespasian- the poor emperor, the son of a humble banker, who in turn was the son of retired centuirion who had retired near the alps, eh defied Roman political circles and was the man who almost single handadedly won all of Britian in his lighting campaign across the entire island

Trajan, the glorious conqeror, a militart gneius who reformed the Ropman army to suit the needs ot take on new enemies on many frontirs, conqouring Dacai (romania), and Mesopotamia (Iraq)- it wa sonyl his death which prevented him from expanding the empire yet farther east.

Tinerius, bu contrast was a pervert, and an introvert, who made sound choices, that kep tth eempire going, but was by no means exceptional- mediocre, at best.

I rolled the eyes because, frankly, I don't care which one it is. The mod's about having fun, not about worrying who the best Roman emperor is.

Still, thanks for the info - I'm sure you'll enjoy the mod when it comes out :D .

people dont choose to have president taft as leader head of the US, do they? Why then shoudl other nations in history get stuck with sub-par, or in this case, barelly on-par rulers representing the best leader thier nation had to offer.

Who is the pretty lady on the top row? :)

Looks like a good mod.

I believe you're referring to Boudicca (sp?).

Did the ancient Israelites really have "generals"?
I realize it's a small point, but maybe "prophet" would be better. Or perhaps you could make "Joshua" the title and "ben Nun" the name (as "ben Nun" was Joshua's last name).

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to this, etc. etc. <insert other random compliment here>.

Well, I suggested making Joshua "general" as that's really the closest I could think of. He was a military leader. He wasn't a prophet. "Judge" might be closer, but the OT is fairly clear that judges were instituted only after Joshua's death.

But then it's all just myths anyway. It doesn't really matter what you call him - a bit like Hector. Both of them should be fairly fearsome opponents.

As far as strict historiocity goes, we can't have that with Civ's limitations, and ditto for playability and fun. We all give our tacit approval to suspension of 100% realism/historical accuracy the moment we install and play our first gave of Civ. I think this will be a great mod. Gladiator as a movie wasn't historically accurate, but it did not keep me from enjoying it.

Your cleaned up your leaderheads abit..(They always looked good, but now they're great!)..Can't wait for it.

dosent matter- what leader is used is completlly within our realm of control, and indeed, because it is, it gives all the more mandate to ensure that the best representitives of a particuler civlization are used as its leaders. Thier is no argument agiast it- thier are sinmple a TON of better leaders in not just Rome, but the world at large who could outclass old Tiberius any day, it just happens that Rome has more then its fiar share of such leaders, and they shoudl thus be used to represent the empire, as opposed to Tiberius.
