I'm pretty sure this is the right board.....

Anyway, do any of you play AOE along woth Civ?

I happen to like AOE better by a small margin.....

They do have a few similarities, like spearman baets tank, only it is pikeman beats Great Bombard :spear:

I played Age of Kings ALOT. I was the king of castle blood. I'm not sure which I like more....really not sure. I know their will be times when I'm playing Civ and I'll have my boats in a canal and the enemy just floats by and I'm like....well hell I wish I could build walls and such...

AoeDS = Win

AoE was great, I liked both the AoE 2 and 3, but to be honest, I didn't like the DS version. If I'm lookiing for a quick game, then I play AoE.

Age of Kings- The Conquerors remains my favourite. I also still enjoy the AoM series.

Ah yes, i had AOE2 + Conquerors, and it still is one of my favorite games.

I remember many years ago my friend and i used to play AOE2 together with a SERIAL cable. We had to set the population limit to 50, or else the game would keep freezing. We usually had a ratio of 20 villagers and 30 soldiers. I remember one game my friend built almost only onagers and i built Champions to protect them. When all his onagers fired the game would freeze for 10 seconds cause it was just to much :D

AoE is gooood

I played AoE 2, but not as much because I never bought it. Liked it, but never bought it. The first Age of Empires, on the other hand, I was playing up until this year, but my new computer doesn't support it =/

I have all of the games in the series except for Age of Empires III's expansion packs.

AoE2, good times...

I was actually having visions about it this morning.

AoE 3 is crap anyway, you're not missing anything.

Really? Uhm, Gamespy gave it a perfect score. Not saying I agree with that, but Gamespy also called it the Half-Life 2 of the RTS genre. I can understand that.

Gamespot and IGN both scored it lower than 9/10, though.

Age of Empires 3 was a decent blast, but never did grab me or my friends the way that AoE2 did. I still play AoE2 from time to time nowadays, I can't see myself playing 3 again anytime soon.

I don't care. My experience from playing it was that it was a vomit-flavoured cake, disguised as chocolate. (or graphics good, gameplay vomit)

They obviously didn't hold it in context to the rest of the series.

What really bums me out is that AoE4 will likely be based off the AoE3 design.

Eh, hopefully they will go in a new direction entriely that is merely inspired by 3. 3 had some alright ideas... except the crappy card system. That idea was out of left field and made no real sense. There was alot "wrong" in 3 IMO when I played the demo (w/o any expansions I believe). But I have to admit Asian Dynasties has me curious. The flavor AoE 3 gives is rather nice I will admit too. I hope just hope 4 isn't AOE3 part 2.
