Some time ago i rewatched most of The Maxx, which was an interesting animation on the MTV during the mid-90s.

I read some article on the original comic, which appears to have been even better and had a somewhat different plot. A very nice and dark animation series :)

Aeon Flux was even more bleak, and sometimes even gruesome or sick.

The Head was mostly funny, but still on the dark side :)

Obviously the most famous MTV animation was Beavis and Butthead. The opening has nice guitar-work too :)

Lastly, there was Daria. I used to like it, but pretty soon MTV died.

There were some smaller animation series, serving as a sort of interval between programs. Migraine Boy was probably the only one of those that i recall:

That was the final episode. The other ones were in black and white and looked even more amateurish.

Liquid Television was where it was at.

I rewatched a Daria episode out of curiosity a month or so ago. I have to say, the show has not held up well.

I was an Aeon Flux fan, bought the seasons on DVD for one of my deployment in 2007. They used multiple artists and writers so the quality and feel of the story and art varied widely.

One of my friends was a huge Daria fan, but I never got into the show.

I never watched much MTV in the 90s, I missed most of these shows.

Daria was ok. Strictly a teen animation, with a more "outcast"-like main character, although in reality Daria was not facing any real problems and the show was mostly a comedy with some supposedly more "serious" parts thrown in.

Aeon Flux had some pretty memorable episodes. I still recall two of them...

The same studio that created it later on made a sort of anime, based on the expedition of Alexander the Great. It was set in a futuristic setting and was similar to Aeon Flux in terms of being violent and having the Egon Schiele type of drawings.

Although i like some twisted art, Egon Schiele is too sick for me. Here is one of his more savory paintings. A good artist, but mad in an annoying way :)
