Any game you're looking forward to in E3?

Assassins Creed 2.
I personally consider first installment of this game a steaming pile of s**t with slice of a chocolate cake on top of it.
The cake being superbly done cities and graphics in general, combined with Altair's freedom of movement therein - and s**t just about anything else.

Agreed, since everyone (it seems) hates the repetitive and despite possibly freedom somehow linear gameplay despite all the other enat things, oh, and why the HELL is it stuck in permanent widescreen? I don't understand why it's still so popular.

I don't think that's coming, tbh.
I'm not sure, it's time they announced something new soon, either civ5, SMAC2 or something entirely new. It's been 3-4 years since civ4 was released.

Civ5 or something new would be interesting.
Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood looks pretty promising too. It's strange that the western theme hasn't been more exploited, Outlaws was such a great game. They just should've made CoJ to pc also...

Because it's a hell of a lot of fun assassinating people.

The only problem with the game, IMO, was the incredibly crap combat system, which you were forced to endure at least an hour of at the end to finish the game...

The first CoJ game was sweet, the voice acting was really good. Sadly the game had first-person platforming, mostly linear levels and quite often had loading screens even though it had a free-roaming level which was very large where you had to hunt 3 rabits and then climb a mountain (with an annoying eagle).

I hated the fact that their was a speed limit, you walk past guards too fast and they want to kill you.

I'm hoping Call of Juarez turns out to be good, it'd be nice to play a good Western FPS game.

Loppan, I'm disappointed that you didn't mention Tropico 3 from Kalypso.

Also HOI III.

Assassin's Creed was one incredible shell, an empty shell. One of the games that p*ssed me off the most in recent years because of that. The world, the environment, was so awesome, had so much potential to be filled with great stuff. But there was nothing to do, the game was pathetically linear, you couldn't skip cut scenes or just play in a free-roaming mode. What a load of horsesh...

As for the list of new games, yeah, not much is getting my attention. We definitely need an announcement about some Firaxis game because their latest outings (Colonization remake and Civ revolution) didn't get me excited at all and were not very fun for me. My interest level towards Firaxis is dropping.

I don't know what I'm looking for. I've been wanting to buy games recently but found that there was really not much in the new games market. I'm looking for Diablo III I guess, because the first two are probably the game I played most in my life, but I don't think this'll be coming out within the next 10 years. Um, what else. I dunno... Sort of depressing.

I was hoping for a Civ4:SMAC, but apparently EA is sitting on that license. Since 2k and EA are best friends (not!) I don't think any Firaxis update of SMAC is in the cards for the near future. There is a lot of room for Civ expansions as Civ4 is one of the top games of all time. Heck even a 64 bit update would be sweet.

I just don't think Civ5 will be around in less than 2 years from now, if at all.

Ok, maybe not an SMAC2, but they're due for something, I think. If the plan to release Civ5 in 1,5-2 years, it wouldn't be strange if they had something for this E3.

Sorry, but I just took the list from Ign, there are probably a couple of other games that aren't listed too. Tropico 3 might be fun, but I didn't play the earlier iterations and I don't think I'll invest my time in this one either.

Another game that isn't listed and that I'm keeping an eye on (when I remember it) - Disciples III. It's a bit of a longshot, but the second installment was great.
Here's a new video: http://ve3d.ign.com/

Yeah, there's definitely room for a sci-fi expansion, or any gameplay expansions, or convenience editors (in game editors?). I just don't see Firaxis reinventing the engine in a short time. And partly I don't see a major reason for them to do it. It'd be better just to take the thing up to 64 bit and make it run faster rather than try make it the Crysis of strategy games.

No problem, Loppan. I was just joking about the disappointed part... just really let down.

Whatever you're smokng must be good. Crysis of strategy games xD :crazyeye:

Since when has Firaxis been all about top of the line graphics and physics?

I could also care less about 64 bit atm anyways :p

I don't smoke.

Well I couldn't see what else they'd want to do for a new engine. 64 bit would cut down turn processing and allow more civs per game, which is a big modding issue. Firaxis doing anything to the engine that would make a turn run slower would turn be off from a new Civ, personally.

Doesn't Civ4 use a different engine from Civ3? And anyways, even with a new engine, it's not like you have to have theb estest graphics.

And the "what are you smoking" is a joke, chill out maaan, smoke some weed man, :P

What I'm saying is Civ4 is pretty perfect, except it could always use a gameplay expansion, and with it being limited to 32 bits causing a turn delay in mods/larger maps even with a modern computer. The only reason I could see for a completely new engine would be to push the edge of graphics/sounds, which as we both agree, isn't as much the point of a turn-based strat game.

Civ4 was a fundamental rewrite of the Civ3 game, both gameplay and graphics/sound. I don't think that's really needed for Civ4 to have a future, hence not a real need for Civ5. They could make a Civ4 expansion, make it stand alone, and call it Civ5, but I wouldn't be fooled.
