Hello all i just got my CD 2 days ago. I have strong military but unsure how to make money. After reading thru these forums Im going to mine all my continent but if any 1 has suggestions plz input.
P.S.: you verteran players can keep the smartazz remarks to urself though. As they won't be of any use to me.

Early on roads and rivers will make your money.

Later roads and rivers will make your money. Multipliers for that gold are marketplaces, banks and stock markets.

You may also get gold per turn or lump sum deals from the other civs through trade.

The most important part: roads.

I don't consider myself as a veteran, but I'd like to know what you mean by that?

That is not nice and uncall for! When you are asking for help, you take the good advice and ignore the bad. There is really no need to declare war or to create enemy on your first post. Even the smartazz has something to offer. Just because their advice may be harder/tougher to understand, that doesn't mean you should nuke them at hello.

The rivers and the roads make the money. You lose money by building too many city improvements and by having more troops than your current form of government can support. Reseqarch your way to monarchy or republic asap. Check your advisor screens frequently. Focus on population growth and try and get at least one worker per town/city.

As for makin money, I'm not playing too long myself but I find the first thing you need to do is get roads esp. from any resource in sight to your capital. Then into opponents territory. Then build marketplace, bank, etc.

Unlike this board, some boards are terribly impatient and mean to newbies. If he hasn't been lurking long, he may not know that. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

This board is absolutely terrific in giving help to anyone who asks at any level and no matter how often the question has been asked before. The moderators do a fantastic job of keeping spam and trolls under control without inhibiting the flow of discussions. I own a couple of bulletin boards myself, and this is the best-run board on any topic I've ever come across.

This is second user I've seen whose first post had a moderator warning on it, DrEvil something was commiting piracy, got warned, and now, Fulcrum Maul getting warned for foul language. We're not that strict at the forums, guys, you just got unlucky.

I've seen many people banned/warned on their first post - some of which did post again, but that's getting off-topic.

Republic is a great government for gold, but you need lots of roads that make it work. marketplaces not only act as a gold modifier, but also as a happiness building (increases effect of luxury resources), so they will let you lower your luxury tax or free up specialists to work in the fields. Avoid too many defenders in your interior cities, though.
