Any ideas about early game build order?

Most people make a good few slingers, but I find them rather useless against warriors and spearmen, so I don't really do that.
I usually start with a scout, then build one slinger so that I can get the archery eureka and upgrade it. At this point, I really can't decide between builder, settler, granary and monument.

I think generally my build order:
scout-warrior-warrior-slinger-settler (my first warrior is sent away to meet civs and city states so i need to build units)

Basic build is scout-slinger-builder-settler but according to circumstances it can change obviously. Nearby barb camp means more military, pangea I might go second scout and with the right resources I might get an earlier builder.

Monument and granary early are not very useful in my view. Monument means you might not be able to keep up with the inspirations anymore and granary only gives +1 food which is not worth the build cost early. I only build it once housing becomes an issue.

Getting 2-3 early slingers is a good idea because they don't cost many hammers and the upgrade to archer is only 30 gold. The archers will keep you safe from barbarians for quite some time.

Scout, scout, slinger, builder, slinger has been working for me in terms of hitting those early eureka's. It's not long after that your build queue explodes with things to do and what I do go for is heavily terrain dependent.

Scout, Scout, Builder, Slinger, Slinger, at this point I am close to bee line Archery

Scout, Slinger, Builder, Slinger, Slinger is my prefered initial buildorder.
After that it depends, if i feel i need to quickly grab a city spot before the AI does i go Settler, if not i go Monument and then Settler (then Holy Site if i want a religion).
I use the initial warrior for scouting the area around my capital in a circle and later to escort settlers.

After that its Archers, Settlers and Builders until im happy with the number of starting cities (4-7 usually). Usually i have to do this while defending against one or two AIs, so might cut down on the number of Builders and get extra Archers instead.

First things i build in new cities is usually Archer, Builder, Monument. But frontline cities gets Walls and maybe more Archers first.

just tried a warcart-warcart-warcart-warcart-warcart-warcart building order with sumeria on king. It was just a test game, but worked fine. I bought a builder with the gold i plundered and could had bought more. and ofc eliminated the first civ I've met (rome) easily even though their capital was in very bad place to attack (coast, next to mountain.. two tiles to attack from only.

scout builder slinger x 2 then settler (or skip if i can steal from a civ) then archer spam to deal with my neighbours

Scout first is a gamble that can pay off with free envoys, villages, and eurekas, or with nothing.

Either scout, slinger, slinger, builder, slinger
slinger, scout, slinger, slinger, builder

I usually try to have at least 2 slingers (depending on terrain) till I get archers in the capital unless I am certain I can get them back quickly from taking out a barbarian village.
