About a year ago I picked up MOO and MOO II online at GOG and I play every once in a while.

If I started to post an average difficulty game of the original MOO in a huge galaxy with 5 opponents would I get any interest or following or pointers to make sure I am doing everything correctly?

I have posted a couple of Civ IV games on this forum so I can upload a bunch of pictures and maybe spin a story or simply chronicle history year by year. I am not sure about uploading a save file.

I know the game is truly ancient - but it is a good strategy game. :)

ADDIT: If there is a good response then I will work on the Avatar. It is a relic from a Charlemagne game I played at a while ago.

EDIT: This has been updated to reflect the fact that I have gone Retro and am playing the Klackons on MOO1.

^^I am thinking:

Moo1
Average Difficulty (I am not sure what changes at Impossible.)
Huge Galaxy (This gives the epic feel of the game and maybe building some Doomsday Weapons.)
Five Opponents (This gives the widest variety and there is plenty of room in the Huge Galaxy.)

Klackons - It is recommended for new players. I have played a reasonable bit now but their advanages are early and long lasting and easy to apply.

I am trying to play it as blind as possible do as well as I can to hide my the identity of my opponents until I make that first contact.

It is possible to talk me into another race or another difficulty but I thought a relatively easy game with a relatively easy race would be a good instructional start.

Play whatever you prefer. I would only suggest that a Huge map will be quite a lot of work and time, unless you vote yourself emperor.

Even medium maps have a lot fo stars. I have taken to run a rexx script to turn a percentage of the stars into asteriods that cannot be used.

Klacks are the strongest imo, the brains can be very strong, once they get some footing.

Diplo point at 67 at Hard and 50 at impossible.
The AI stays in a fight longer at each level. 4/1 simple and easy. 5/1 ave, 6/1 hard and 7/1 impossible.

Missible base are 100% cost for AI at Simple. 90/80/70 and 50 at possible.

Production is -20 for AI at lowest, -10, 0, +25 at hard and +50 at impossible.

Expansion and space monsters are impacted by level.

Research base level is 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40. So it is twice as expensive to learn a tech at impossible as Simple.

I imagine you are correct. I did start a lot of huge maps and after a while there is a lot of management.

From limited experience with the game I have to agree.

Does this mean at easier levels they like you more and at harder levels they hate you more? At Average Diplomacy is normal I take it.

I do not know what 5/1 means.

The rest of it is understood. I have rolled up and posted a game start. We can see how it goes. Given the map is huge it might take a while. As a comparison, Civ4 Games on this Forum can run several weeks or more.
