Any mode that changes AI modifiers during the game?

Hi civvers, I love the game and my main issue is that at Deity, the game is very punishing at the very beginning while it's easy when you are getting towards the end. So I was wondering if there is any mod that would allow to increase the bonuses that the AI has during the game (or can this be done manually)?

And I'm not just thinking about changing from Emperor to Deity, but about increasing their modifiers progressively, for example starting with King/Emperor as base but then progressively increasing their modifiers as a function of the number of cities the human user has settled/techs & civs researched/overall score or something similar. Does this exist or is it even doable?

Of course, I've often had the same thought! The beginning in Deity is really hardcore, but after a certain course, the AI quickly loses the rhythm. To my knowledge, there is no mainstream mod that dynamically adapts AI bonuses as you describe, but it's clearly a great idea. Maybe a modder could be inspired by it to create something more progressive and balanced. In the meantime, I sometimes hack the XML files to boost some bonuses manually in the middle of the game. Not ideal, but it does the trick to keep a little challenge.

I mean, I could add something to the ai mod for this as an option feature. I think the easiest and most sane would be ramping up difficulty by era. Straight forward to do.
I think that would be a very good add. Along with options potentially "above" Deity -- or even the ability to slider scale to customize a given difficulty level. I have not played under the new patch yet -- but prior to that, I found Modern to be just too easy even on Deity.

It would be easy to do it per era yes. You could even do it say after turn 50 or something inside an era.

Depends on what you would want right? I suppose Sovereign -> Immortal -> Deity if you picked Sovereign. Then yeah some super difficulty on the later stages.
