It's also vanilla civ (there are no advanced buttons above the minimap, et cetera)...what patch level? If it was Conquests I would try it out. One hint though: build military instead of improvements!

It's winnable if you can pull a zerksees. it's like you have a bonus trait of religious and you can change govts easily. FP is a waste of shields im my opinion unless it's a rebuild.

I've seen much worse than this won on Diplo, or if you could get tech parity in the MA 7 cities is more than enough to win space race.
My $0.02 just from the picture:
1. Play very nice with Japan, Right now your military chances against them are pretty much zero. You are going to have to deal with being weaker than them for the time being. Try to pull ahead in the IA but until then give them whatever they want short of ROP or MPP.
2. Forget about Chivalry, you won't be warring before Cav anyway. Work toward Gunpowder and pray for luck in resource placement.

Doing a 'Ctrl-S' in game should also compress the save. Although it's been a while since I tried it with Vanilla, so I'm not entirely sure. I do know it works for PTW/C3C, and assume it would be the same for vanilla.

Never noticed you could continue with the FP in vanilla even if you have too few cities.
