Any new stuff with the Navy?

except that wouldnt work, since a transport counts all units, even ones that are loaded on another thing. you cant load 8 armies onto a ship, you can load at best 2 with 4 units each.

when was the last time you saw the AI attacking you by sending a transport that was fully loaded with good units (not warriors)?:ripper: :rocket2: :sniper:

Bah, the AI is stupid and sends wave after wave of spearmen into my MI's, and they always search with those dumb galleys.

or how about having an ASW helicopter you can put on your carrier to search for sub's. cause on thinking about it am I right in thinking that only destroyers and AEGIS Crusiers can see enemy sub's (your own sub's excluded)

not bad. As an add on to my APC idea instead of alowing an APC with units in it, how about only if the APC doesn't have units in it will it be allowed on a transport?

Ahhh see what my post inspired. I havnt played Civ for a few months and i feel bad so im back here posting again and im going to start up the good old game of mine were I control the seas. O in this game control is nessecery and event the AI's all have rather large navies.

Hmmmm........

How about giving privateers slave raid abilities and slave carrying abilities?

Allow them to attack workers on the shore and take them on board as slaves?
In addition perhaps a 50-75% success against workers and 5-10% against cities?

This would solve privateers and make navies important to have and fun...

Oh forgot to add that slave holding capacity should only be one per ship...

I'll disagree with the one slave per ship thing. when there was an active slave trade, the slavers certainly packed them in and then some, and if a Trireme can hold 3 units then a Slave Ship could hold maybe as much as 5 workers, packed in

Well I intended it more for balance so that one couldn't depopulate entire cities with 5 privateers in the late game...
Without a limit it would be overpowered..
Unless cities got perhaps a 10%-20% chance to sink the raiding ship?

Well, you could also balance it with another realistic effect: You can opt for a "dense loading scheme" by cramming in the extra worker but then there would be a 20% chance per turn of the worker dying while in transit. That would mean an expected loss of 1/3 for a 4 turn sea voyage of 2 workers. Historically about right...

New unit ability: Enslave

Hey maybe i was right?

do you really think they will add slavery?

Atari should add the Byzantines in Conquest (don't know if they are or not). Their special unit could be the fire ship, a variant of the tireme. I'd love to rule the seas with Greek fire...
