Seriously... the minute I start contacting a bunch of civs it takes at least 30 seconds between turns. Right around 0 AD + and it only gets worse. Anything I can do to lower graphics settings? I am already playing on low graphics. My comp is a year old at that. This goes back to Civ IV so it is nothing new. But any solutions to speed up the wait? It's not like this is multiplayer games here...

As far as I know, the slowdown you experience as the game goes on has very little, if anything, to do with your graphics settings. How smooth the view is as you scroll around the map and whether zooming in and out seems laggy are more related to your graphics settings.
For interest's sake, what are your CPU and RAM specs? These are the things more likely to have an effect on turn-times.
