Anybody else already knows he won't be able to play Civ6 soon after release?

Firstly, I have terrible PC that either won't be able to display Civ6 at all or it will be completely unenjoyable (don't even tell me "specs weren't revealed yet" - Civ5 was slow on it and this year's Paradox games are unplayable on it :p ).
Secondly, due to various financial circumstances, I won't be able to buy a new PC before December.
Thirdly, I am going to start simultaneously a) Difficult period in my education b) Half time job so even then I will have very limited time to play Civ6.

:(:(:(:(:(
At least when I will finally play it it'll be free of most problematic bugs (after first patches) but still, the fact I won't be able to share early happiness of civ fanatics makes me sad.

Who else is in the club?

That was more or less my situation when Civ V was released. Hang in there Krajzen.

I've been planning for Civ VI since the release date was announced:
-Extra Ram, SSD
-Updated to Windows 10
-Asked for TWO days off work (Monday and Tuesday)
-Already explained to my wife to expect nothing from me that weekend.

On the bright side, by the time you start playing, we can assume the game will have undergone various balance patches, which means you won't have to create more Krajzen's Buffs to fix the unbalanced mistakes Firaxis left in the game!

I took it up a notch by flying in my brother from across the country to have someone to play with  Just hoping MP will work straight of the bat.

My video card died two days ago, on my seven-year old Dell which has decent processor/RAM. My wife agrees that it is probably a good time to buy a new PC (will go Dell again, hater propeller-heads, life is too short). I have the week-off work booked, and now the new PC. Just need to keep working overtime and the next four weeks should melt away. Can't wait.

For me it depends entirely on the system requirements. My PC is borderline...Civ 5 ran pretty slowly on it on standard or larger maps once I hit the industrial era, but I have plenty of ram so I'm hoping the switch to a 64 bit engine will make up for some of the increased requirements.

On the positive side: The part time job might improve your economy, enabling you to upgrade your computer hardware and afford the Civ-software.

Sorry to hear about the OP's difficulties in playing the game any time soon. Just for a moment I thought this was going to be another thread pontificating about how bad the game will be regardless of the minor fact that none of us has actually played it yet.

I tried to get the Friday of the release off at my full time job and was going to not pick that weekend up at my part time job but alas a co-worker already requested that day off.

Now I'll have to wait until that Monday to really dive into the game...of course I have no concerns about actually running the game because I just built a beastly desktop earlier this year. :king:

My only possible bottleneck is GTX 560 Ti but not sure if I want to buy 1060/1070 mostly for Civ 6 (cos other games I am interested in are going to be released late 2017 or somewhere in 2018 and Cyberpunk 2077 possible at even later date). I am waiting for Poland DLC and then I'll decide what to do (depending on game performance).

I sympathize with the OP. When Dragon Age: Inquisition was released, the game played so badly on my computer I had to quickly save every time I miraculously managed to make it through a (slow motion) cut screen.

Ah, but I recently shelled out for a new gaming computer, so everything should be fine for the Oct 21st release, right? Well, I have a heavy teaching schedule the next day. There's always Saturday, right? Well, my wife and daughter are dragging me to a Comic Convention downstate that day. I'll be the guy in back who's not cosplaying--and who's sighing a lot :)

Nothing wrong with buying a Dell, but please visit your friendly local computer store to compare some prices on their gaming PCs.

My state-of-the-art (in Civ 5 terms) system also ran unbearably slow in mid to late game, on larger maps.

I'm waiting for Cyberpunk 2077 too ;)

I would recommend upgrading to a GTX 970, the price is right and that should run anything on 1080p until Cyberpunk comes along in 2-3 years with absurd GPU requirements.

But you will at least do a clean Windows install to get rid of all their shovelware, right? RIGHT?!?!?

Thanks, I'll give that a look.

Unfortunately I have to work that weekend and Friday as well, but I will have time after work to play.

But now I am worried about my computer. I have a top of the line video card and 8 gigs of RAM/ quadcore processor, but it's getting up there in years (7 years old I believe).

I'm going to wait for the Mac App Store version once it comes out; it will be the only legal non-Steam option available.

I'm going to get a 27" iMac with Retina Display (a new version would definitely be available once the Mac App Store version of Civ VI is released).

Somebody please refresh my memory: when do Civ games typically release? Will it be 12:01am EDT on the 21st? If so, I will probably start the download before I leave for work, but I won't be able to play it until my wife and daughter go to bed at ~8:30pm. Unless, when I get home from work it's finished downloading and my daughter is interested in watching daddy play :)

I know your pain OP!
I was travelling and hoping to settle down for the winter with a brand new laptop and Civ6. I have been struck down severe Ulcerative Colitis I never knew I had. Stuck in the hospital now for 3 weeks and won't be free for who knows how long. Even then, so far behind my list of priorities getting a gaming laptop will be on my road to getting established in a new city and physically recovered from almost nothing, I likely won't play for a year. Unless I can think of something clever in the meantime.
