Anybody get the "Religious Intelligence" to work?

I did some searching and haven't seen this addressed yet:

It says the exact sane thing in the in-game Civilopedia and in the manual:
"Intelligence From Cities with Your Religion
If you control the holy city for a religion, you can see what's going on in any city with that religion, as well as all spaces that city can see."

Anybody figure out how to spy on the opposing city? I have founded all religions but Buddhism and can't seem to figure out how to do this. Unless the founding city is not necessarily the "holy city" without some improvements???

Thanks,
jeremy

Two ways to do this.

#1. Have your Holy City grow in population; while putting in the religion related Temples, Monastaries, Cathedrals as well as the special Holy Prophet building. Then open your borders with the other Civilizations to allow International Trade Routes. Eventually your Religion will spread naturally.

#2. Make a Monastary or use the Organized Religion Civic, and build a bunch of Missionaries. Open the Borders with the other Civilizations, and flood their cities with your religion by putting missionaries on their city tiles and clicking the, "Spread Religion" button.

This is true if you have made it to your state religion. You will see the military stationed in foreign cities with your state religion.

I don´t know if you have to have the holy city as well because I achieved to found a religion in every game I played so far.

So then you just click on an opposing city with the little religion icon and it opens up the city screen? That hasn't worked for me after using both steps 1 and 2. I guess i must be doing something wrong.

Thanks for the reply

Possible that you missed one of the following:

- You do not have the Religion as your State Religion.

- You do not have the Holy City for your State Religion.

- You do not have the Holy City, or the State Religion for the Religion you're specifying.

- You have Free Religion as a Civic. {Untested Guess}

Note you can only see the cities that have the same religion as your State Religion, and ONLY if you have the Holy City for your State Religion.

Yeah I was wondering about the Free Religion Thing since that's what I have now. It's kind of frustrating that the manual/civilopedia doesn't go into more detail. I definitely have all the holy cities except Buddhism and I am at the point o f building Modern Armor in 1870 or something (i think settler option may be too easy ;) ) so pretty much all the buildings are in place. Weird, I'll just keep clicking around I guess.

So have you been able to do this just by clicking on the opposing city with the same religion?

I don't think you can see what the city is producing, nor how many hammers it has without the use of a spy, built after you build the Scotland Yard national wonder. {Given by Communism}

Instead, what you can see is the cities Cross-Shaped sphere of influence, which includes all of it's tiles, all of the units based within those tiles {Including the city tile}, as well as which religions/unhealthiness/unhappiness that the city has.

If you want to see inside of the city production screen, you need to use a Spy for that.

yeah, good point, that seems more likely. The wording is a little non-specific, I'll have to try it differently in my next game. That would be useful before satellites that's for sure. Thanks again
