Anyone else really like Seven Seas?

I've found there to be a ton of land on the map the couple times I've tried to play games. Not a problem sometimes, but others it feels like I won't run into and land space issues until the modern era with how much room there is.

I really like the idea of Seven Seas, but I think there is too much land. I made a mod which adds more water and it feels a lot better, and makes it possible to easily connect all the seas with canals, and makes naval game more relevant since many civs 'touches' each sea.

I mostly feel there aren't enough places to make canals to connect the seas.

Agreed. Try adding more water to the map (or try my mod if you dont want to tinker with the map script yourself) and amazing canal spots will become relative plentiful ;) I made a comparison shot with some notes on it in the mod

funny enough ,that's exactly what I like , it feels like one of the best balance between sea and land , use can use naval while most of the action is on land , as I think it should be

I'm only in my first game with it, but I think I'll use it often. I like the additional land, and it's more interesting than inland sea.

It's not my cup of tea, but I do plan to try the Netherlands on that map script. It seems like a good match.

Persobally, I am very disappointed about the map as it contains way too much land for my taste. I do not really like too much free real estate on a map as the infinite expansion possibilities kind of kill the suspense of competing for land and I also don't really love it for roleplay reasons. I feel like Seven Seas is very similar to Inland Sea: both are great concepts with dubious execution.

I've only played one Small Continents game, it's been nothing but 7 Seas for me (I modified the map script like Nerevatar suggested)! There's much easier naval passage on most of the maps I've rolled, but no absolute circumnavigation because of ice. Playing as Kupe is a real blast, as you can expand in so many directions easily, and you rarely lose sight of shore when exploring. My latest game I added 4 AI and maxed CS at 24 on a Huge map and there is still lots of room to settle.

I prefer playing a naval game - Seven Seas, despite its name doesn't have enough water for fleet manoeuvres.

Do you have a link?

This is especially annoying when the map is unexplored. I thought I had a decent size "sea" so place down a battleship, only to find that its a small lake with only 2-3 AI cities surrounding it.

Here is my latest 7 Seas Huge map. Almost all the water is connected, but is cut off at the East end of the map.

I really liked the map when I first checked it out on patch release. I was disappointed when I couldn't adjust sea level later on. There are mods out there that add more water, but they really should just let you change sea level in the menu.

Yeah love the map. I love especially that there's a lot of land to spam cities <3

I really don't understand why you can't. It's inconsistent.

I don’t understand why people complain that there’s too much land. It’s called Seven Seas not Seven Oceans. If you were to make a map of the area encompassing the Black, Caspian, and (old) Aral seas, there would be much more land than water.

If it were called Seven Oceans, I would expect more water with less land (continents) breaking it up.
