[R&F] Anyone else try attacking Mapuche while in a golden age

I've used it as the Mapuche against the Zulu. It is delicious.

I didn't notice much of a difference attacking the Mapuche while I was in a golden age. Then again, I had infantry, spec ops, artillery, and tanks when all they had were horse raiders and bombards.

Yes I did, however he had very few units and I was playing a watery domination game as Wilhelmina and attacking with De Zeven Provinciën so I honestly didn't even notice that his cities got the +10 ;)

AS Mapuche I managed to take down Chandragupta with only warriors and archers despite him having Varu and walls. I tried to rush him before he declared on me and things started out well but then a couple turns into the war his walls went up and Varu appeared. I thought I was toast but boy that +10 is fantastic! It was glorious.

Yes... but has anyone else been on the wrong end.... I'm gonna have to be careful with my age from now on while this chap is around

I never thought about the religious side but that must have made for some mighty nasty Apostles. Who cares about golden inquisitors

Yeah I haven't met them yet but it's good to hear they are a challenge.

The Mapuche attacking a neighboring city that's in a Golden Age with the Malon Raider... is very satisfying. +15 to an already strong unit.

On another note, I haven't made much use of the -20 Loyalty for defeating a unit within a city's borders. Used in a city with strong loyalty, it makes no difference unless you can defeat 5+ units in one turn; the city usually bounces back. Used in a wavering city, I suppose it expedites the process... overall, the LUA is the weakest part of the civ. I can't imagine how horrible it would have been if they'd left it at -5.

Remember that a city gets a production and growth penalty if the Loyalty drops under 75. So a couple of kills in the city borders does hurt it for a few turns.

It doesn't matter when you're Aztecs. +10? I have Toys, Lipsticks and everything nice.

Just once...because I forgot about UA...didn’t work out well.

I really like the UA from a gameplay perspective. Playing as Mapuche makes it exciting to see who is in what type of age when a new era starts. Playing against can obviously be tricky as well and requires some extra strategic decisions.

Haven't gone to war yet with Mapuche, but in my current game Mapuche and I now have a common border (used to be Rome between us) and I am learning how difficult they are to deal with!

You don’t know how much I want to try it. Unfortunately, as far as I know, I don’t have the Zulu in my first Mapuche game I am playing now. But when I get the chance and it is not premeditated, I know I will find it delicious. No better word to describe it.

Mapuche + golden age + oligarchy + oligarchy legacy card is insane. 10+4+4....
