I won't be able to get it until tomorrow afternoon/evening. *sob* Today and tomorrow morning will be such long periods of time... guess I'll call them this evening or tomorrow and see if it's in yet.

Got a email from ebgames just a few minutes ago, mentioning that the release date for my pre-ordered civ has been changed to 10/24/2005...
Called the guys at my local ebgames to check if it is available for pickup, they do not know anything about a todays release, but he gave me hope by saying that sometimes this happens and that they might receive it sometime today...
i hope they understand how urgent this is for me!!!

It is really nasty of Firaxis to release it in Britain near the end of the half-term break (I'm a teacher) and worse that I'll probably arrive after the half-term break.

The game is being shipped to them today. Thus they(Amazon.com) will get the game in today. It will ship tonight because they will process and send out the 1 day and 2 day orders tonight. The thing is that UPS doesn't drop off these shipments until tommorrow evening. Most times on trucks who do routes of nothing but rushed orders.
Thus the game can ship out tonight, scan 1, fly to the closest hub,scan 2, be driven to said hub, scan 3, be put on a truck, scan 4, and driven to said person's home, end scan.
BUT, depending on when they get it, they might not ship to the day after next. Meaning 1day orders will arrive on Wed, and 2 day orders will arrive on Thurs.

Just registered to let you guys know that I also got off the phon with my EBgames in WI and they said that they will have thier shipment in tommorow and I can pick it up then, bout 1 pm is when thier truck arrives! Glad I pre orderd and am excited to have it tommorow, specially when gamespot told me they wont have it till wed.... =)

Well my town just got hit hard by Wilma, so I'm crossing my fingers that they get power & that my EB will get their shipment on time. I'm driving back there tommorow... hopefully. :/

I didn't know Amazon has to wait to RECEIVE shipment on the original shipment date. Seems kind of strange that a distributor that will likely be moving hundreds of thousands of copies isn't allowed to get the game a day in advance so they can ship it to customers right away. At least now I know so I won't be disappointed when it doesn't arrive tomorrow even though the site says it will.

I live on the West coast of the U.S., and I preordered the game from EB Games. They have it listed as coming into the store tomorrow, however, there is a VERY slim chance that they might get it today, and the guy told me they ARE allowed to sell it today, even though the street date is tomorrow.
So, as I'm doing training for 200 police officers this afternoon, all that will be in my mind is how I am going to drive 90 mph to get home afterwards and see if my store got it in as part of their 2:00 UPS shipment.
What can Brown do for me? GET MY GAME TO THE STORE, THAT'S WHAT!
