Anyone want a Europa Univeralis II Succession Game?

Well, I'd love one. We could go on a ruler-by-ruler basis. We should probably all use the latest patch if pos. If there are any interested, someone should volunteer to open the thread and organize it (since i don' want to).

I think Spain, Russia and Ottoman Turkey are the best candidates for nations (lots of expansion possibilities and long-lived rulers). But I'm not too fussed either way....

Also, any thoughts on the state to be played? I'm no too bothered - if pressed, then I'd pick Muscovy; Spain can be annoying - putting down hundreds of revolts all the time

That sounds like a good idea, here is a suggestion on turn length: you should probably limit them to 10 years, or maybe even 5 years. Shorter turns leads to better quality report.

You should also probably agree on a long term goal for the game, is it a world conquest? Or maybe convert all shiite country to the true sunni faith? Feel like playing a colonial game, why not spread Basque culture to the new world?

Setting a long term goal will provide a setup for good in-character reports and should make this a very interesting read. Have fun!

I love playing the Ottomans they are always fun.

Denmark is also alot of fun if anyone is intrested in playing them.

Yeah I'd love a succession game. I just don't have any patches... just what I ordered via. Amazon. Anyone know how I could check what patch I have or download any newer ones?

I'm still not really good though. I managed to conquer Albania and Dubrovnik and make Serbia into a vassal, but then Castille, England, and the Ottoman Empire declared war on me, and I ended up losing a decisive battle to the latter in Kosovo which set up the fall of the entire kingdom (oh the irony).

We should, I think, do the grand campaign and play monarch by monarch. If we're going to be a small nation, then Wallachia might be fun. Otherwise, it seems that the Ottomans are the nation that seem to be jumping out (I must warn, Spain gets really tedious, putting down revolt after revolt in the Americas! )

I'll go download patch 1.07 in a day or two.

Monarch by monarch grand campaign would be best, I agree.

Ottomans would probably be best. Wallachia might be interesting for a while, but it'd be hard not to get crushed by the Ottomans.

Serbia would also be a good choice for small Southeast European nations. They have 2 provinces to start with and are surrounded by3-5 relatively weak countries (Bosnia, Ragusa, Albania, one of the Romanian states, and Croatia eventually).

mmm I like the sound of Serbia as we can expand into the weak states around us before the Ottomans get their act togeather and start going Europe side for expansion. Also we can proberly start picking at Venice in its decline and prehaps even Hungery if we can get big enough before Hungery links with Austria. I'll sort out the patch now.

Realistically we could grab the following countries in this order before the Ottomans came.

- Bosnia
- Ragusa
- Dalmatian Coast (Venice)
- Albania

What about Hungery though as a threat? Serbia is an orothox nation and that means the catholics wont mind taking shots at us whenever we look weak. For example just after an invasion. A central german power might go well...
