Asking cause a second type of library seminar i (likely) will be presenting/organising is to be on computer 3d modelling. I haven't before presented stuff to people using computers to follow what i am saying (apart from you here, but you are not paying me so whatever :) ), and am wondering if others here have this sort of experience and therefore could give some hints as to how to go about organising such a program...

I suppose there will be something like 10 computers at most (unless it is the central library), and we will be using Blender because it is a freeware 3d-modeller and quite good anyway...

Basically the meetings are about providing some basic info on how to model things (to some degree) using a 3d modeller. It also is a bit tied to the prospect of creating objects (such as plastic games) using a 3d-printer and your own models in such programs.

An example of what models will be shown:

Any help would be appreciated. While this program is even less formal than my philosophy one (cause in the latter i at least have a uni degree to go about), it is very likely to be economically a far better prospect for myself to be given precious euros to present in other libraries, cause the rebel youth always cares about glittering gfx and not much about dialectic and things-in-itself :)

Make sure all stuff you need is installed, or that you can get someone beforehand to do it. If they don't allow modifications on their systems, then you'll need to prepare some live system on an USB stick (works well with Ubuntu), and plan in some budget for that (yeah, USB sticks are dirt cheap, but still).

Make clear who the target audience is. With computers, too many people think they can just hop in and learn some stuff, even if they have not the slightest clue about the subject. If you're working on Linux, make sure to state that in the description. That'll turn away most of the people who don't know what they'd be doing.
Maybe look for a good tutorial online, which people should try beforehand to see if their skills fit (and if it's just a basic blender handling program).

Thanks :)

Yes, USB sticks likely will be used, cause a Blender file easily can go over 25MB (even zipped) and so it cannot be emailed anyway...

Blender runs the same in Linux and Windows, and the libraries only use Windows (as i will too, once i have money) :)

And modelling in 3d can be perplexing if one has never done it... Even familiarising oneself with the 3d environment is often counter-intuitive for most people. The modelling will be as simple as possible, and this is a pilot program at any rate.. (but the library heads said they plan to place it in the 'advanced computing' programs, so likely more people interested will have some basic awareness of what it is about).
