Anything Goes - A Fallout 3 AAR

I didn't think he had gotten very far. Never realized that one could run into the Enclave that early in the main quest line.

It happened to me before, I encountered a lone Enclave trooper at random moments (usualy in the areas where the Enclave camp appears after they land at the Jefferson Memorial in the main quest, example: Neville's encounter with the Enclave trooper near Dukov's Place/Molerat lair)). The lone Enclave scout appears even before I head to the vault with Tranquility Lane. I've also encountered lone scout Enclave troopes with the Tesla Power Armor at mid level. I usualy finish the Aiding the Outcast quest to get the power armor training early (as well as the Chinese Stealth Suit to use to get the Vengeance in the Deathclaw Cave) so I can use the Enclave power armor and not have it be extra weight to carry around. IMO, using the glitch to get to the Citidel to get Power Armor training early in the game is a pain in the butt.

Boy, I should start my own Fallout AAR staring Samus as the Lone Wanderer :run:. When I get my desktop back from repairs.

Edit: Now that I've got my computer fixed, now I am able to start my own Fallout 3 AAR :)

You sure you completely uninstalled it before you tried reinstalling? FWIW I had some trouble uninstalling Oblivion on my machine, the uninstall process simply wouldn't do anything, so I ended up just deleting it manually (which probably left some debris from the install on the system). So it seems that Bethesda have previous when it comes to install/uninstall issues. I'd try googling the error or maybe checking out a dedicated FO board, it may be a common problem with a known solution.

The problem that I found was that there was already an installshield folder already. Renamed it and it installed normaly. Though I had to look in Program Files (x86) for it instead of the regular Program Files foulder the trouble shoot suggested (Due since I am on a 64bit OS).

I had to manually remove Oblivion and manually delete the registry keys, the problem was that at the end of the Oblivion install, it kind of pauses and looks like it's done but just didn't close, so I (and many others) clicked the X button to close the window, apparently that will cause the game to cease working months later (or a couple of YEARS later) and be hard to uninstall. Luckily if you wait a couple of minutes the installer will finish and the problem won't happen, so I shouldn't ever have the problem again.

Returning to megaton and discovering that the water show may indeed outlast the simpsons in terms of fan base support while waiting for Moira to open up her shop. I decide that the Church of Atom may as well give up now as its water is stagnant and the pipes water dances, even a nuke doesn't make enough of a difference.

Selling my worldy goods, including the enclave armour I've come across, I notice that I'm running horribly low on funds. Even just trying to get a few stimpaks causes my profit margin to shrink, die and then recede.

I try to give Moria my mole rat research but discover I've only killed the bare minimum. If theres one thing that can be said about the Ryan family its that we do things to completion, unless theres a demon, large dog, Scorpion, Robot or if theres a big guy threatening you, not just any big guy though... one with a 2x4.... with a nail in it.

On my way back to the Mole rat area I find something rather interesting occuring.

I hear a lazer being fired and raise my own in anticipation, moving slowly and searching the area from behind a tree I notice a mirelurk... I should really report this back to Moria as if they've become capable of building and firing lazers I'd qualify that as some kind of sentience.

Fallout32009-10-1608-27-04-76.jpg

However upon further inspection I discover that the Mirelurk is not actually holding the lazer rifle, my heart sinks a little and I continue my search for the source, The mirelurk finds it for me, an enclave soldier who had been apparently shooting at it and not me.

"In the Blue shell, weighing in at possibly around 350 pounds, estimate used because it refused to step on the scale. From the muck filled pond down the road! MIRELURK!!!"

"In the Black/Greenish power armour, weighing in at 250 pounds. From the Capital Wasteland, ENCLAVE SOLDIER!"

*Settles back in chair*

1..2..3..4..5..6 oh to hell with it, he's missing his head.

Mirelurk wins in a first round knockout, The crowd goes wild! thankfully "Enclave soldiers get in free" night is next tuesday so a riot is avoided.

The Mirelurk goes a little strange and decides that I'm a threat it to its championship and comes after the announcer in an incident that brings back bitter memories of the great Muhammed Ali massacre of 1964 in whitch a referee, cameraman and lighting technician were mercilessly throttled.

Thankfully we've since given the staff various means of self protection

To quote the band Filter, "Hey man, Nice shot!" :D

Capt2 has found, another Enclave Soldier!

Though in my games, I hold on to the Enclave armor and head right to Bailey's Crossroads to start Ading the Outcast to get the power armor training while still a low level character :D.

Also, If I am at the part in the Survivor Guide with the mole rat repellent and I go to the DLC parts (The Pitt, Operation: Anchorage, & Mothership Zeta) I still have the repellent stick since it's still flagged as a quest item and not taken away from me by the Pitt Raiders and Aliens .

To quote the band Filter, "Hey man, Nice shot!" :D

I like turning my enemies into a giant pile of green goo with a plasma weapon :p

But the annoying thing about goo/ash piles. Is that they dont go away!
I literally have to go into the console, click on the pile, and type in "disable" to clean it up

Kan just reminded me, I'm going to put this on hiatus for a temporary period... I find myself bombarded constantly by things I have to do, read or play and haven't really gotten around to updating in a little while, Ciaphas isn't going to read himself!

Anyway with L4d2 coming out pretty soon followed by a flurry of game releases I don't see much time for poor fallout until that well dries up because I personally don't believe I'm good enough at writing to get away with "well I'll just dash that off and then get back to Darkest of Days... wait whats this? they just released DLC for Ultimate Alliance 2? Update: Neville Sleeps for the next two weeks, see ya then"

I however promise to come back to the game when I'm ready again as I'm certain you all remember my Oblivion AAR had a hiatus around the same season last year :p

Edit: by the way it appears Civgeneral will be writing a fallout 3 AAR as well, so I hope you'll all join me in checking that out

Please don't do a Kan ( don't update for like 5 weeks or so and not saying anything) :P.

BTW, I thought you might like to know that this story has inspired me to download Thorgrimm's "Fallout: The Rebirth of Civilization" mod for Civ III conquests, and it will be my next Civ III story game (once I finally finish my Age of Imperialism game)....

I'll be starting it as soon as I return from work. I had to tweek one of the mods with the GECK to fix a little bug with the Good Hair Day mod. I doubt any of you would want to see the overseer with only one eye and funky eyelashes ;).
