AoE III

Meh didnt just fire up my interest like AOE2.

I haven't got it. I don't think I will. I'm trying to see what will appeal to me about this.

AOE IV will be what era?

I think the most likely time period for AOE IV is Napoleonic Europe.

I have AOE III but I've not played it much, it does seem a good game though.

After playing Civ 4 I'm not a big fan. The graphics are great and the story is OK, but it leaves me wanting a little Je ne sait Quoi. Build build units atack, build units attack ad infinitium. I really do find it kinda boring.

There are more aspects to AoE III than that. The Home City and Native Americans provide interesting things to mess around with.

It still doesnt stop the gameplay from being extremley tired.
Build a few buildings, gather lots and lots of resources, advance a few ages, build a massive 'rabble' of an army, no tactics, just throw the crowd at the enemy base. Whoo youve won.

In the era of games like RTW and M2TW AoE just doesnt cut it anymore

I couldn't get into it. The graphics were nice, but meh, the gameplay wasn't that great. I think I was just expecting too much considering how good AoE II was.

Compared to AOE2... BAD! AOE2 captured me for a much longer time and is even now keeping me happy with gigantic custom campaigns by an active community.

AOE3 is boring.

I liked it at first but then I got civ4 and just stopped playing. I only started again when my civ 4 disk broke. Its ok just not great.

The game itself wasn't too bad, but I'll tell you what did suck big time, the Editor! Condidering that i could at least make semi-decent scenarios with AoE2, AoE3 is a real step back. A lot like Empire Earth and the Sequel to that

I couldn't get into it. After a week of trying it out, I uninstalled it and gave it to a friend. It was too dull and repetitive for me, and nothing about it really stood out. I thought the Home City thing was overrated to.

I've played it and I would say AOM is still offers more interesting gameplay (minus the spiffy graphics of course).

AOE3 is all about eye candy. Not very strategic like Civ or tactical like the TW series. It gets quite boring after a week.
