This thread is to know what you guys have and also for advice to know what kind of laptop i should get for when i graduate 8th grade into high school. As of now im leaning toward apple...

Depends, what are you using it for?

If you want it to be done for normal functions, I think a Mac is probably better. For specialization, a PC has better access to more programs.

**DISCLAIMER: I am aware that you can use programs on different operating systems, but I'm assuming the average person to read this is lazy.**

Personally I just prefer microsoft. Easy enough to use, stability isn't as much of a problem as people sometimes make it out to be.

*prepares to eat words as the disk inevitably siezes up and causes a fatal error, dumping physical memory*

Microsoft has better access to software, Apple beats it in multimedia applications, but that's pretty much it. And the stability really isn't an issue.

With what you need it for, I would suggest Microsoft, if only for cheapness. By the time you need a better computer, you'll just upgrade anyway.

even though i have used microsoft most of my life, I do understand that apple holds some significant advantages over microsoft. I really don't understand what my friend told me about it specifically so I won't pretend I do, but I do suggest you to look at people's opinions as just that, opinions. Do your research and spend your money wisely.

I have to go with Microsoft. I have always used a Microsoft computer and probably always will. They are pretty reliable and are very well-known so replacing stuff shouldn't be to hard if something breaks. They also are fairly priced and have quite some power. Also, they release updates very often (mainly for combating viruses among other things) which is nice:).

Macs are my computer of choice. I do have a Windows computer (using it right now, in fact), but I merely tolerate using it, rather than enjoy using it. The only upside to Windows is that it's natively compatible with a lot more stuff (although there's plenty for Mac out there, too) - the OS itself is nothing impressive, IMO.

Get a PC... that is unless your major concern is that your computer makes a fashion statement that you are a nonconformist artistic freethinker, in which case you should get a mac.

Nice 8th grade graduation gift. :)

My laptop is from 99 and it dosn't have a working hard drive or power cable. Which is why I got it for free.

But given the coice I would pick an apple at less you plan to use it for gaming. Though I doubt taht becuase it is well, a lpatop for a 13 year old.

1. I had always used PC's until I used my friend's PowerBook and then bough my iBook.
2. Apples rarely brake. Everything you could need is available directly through them, though.
3. Apple doesn't need to constantly release patches to fix problems and stop viruses. All of their updates add new features.

Not true. I use a Mac because I like the operating system better. The computer is well made as well, but I don't notice that nearly as much.

Mac OS X is far superior to Windows XP (can anybody come up with one aspect of Windows XP that is better, aside from compatability?). There are also many more high quality third-party free applications available for Macs than for PC's (go figure). I would strongly advice you to get a Mac.

Apple was superior until about four or five years ago. These days MicroSoft is far superior. OS X is awful and Mac doesn't even have a Right mouse click button.

Sad to say because I was a die-hard Mac ethusiast for most of my life.

I'd recommend to get a PC.

What about Windows is better than OS X?

Mac users can right click by control clicking, which is not hard to get used to at all.

or just buy a new mouse. The new OSes work if you get one.

He could buy an Apple Mighty Mouse or a third party mouse, but I'm not sure if he wants to use an external mouse with his laptop.

My dad uses his so that he can sit at the dinner table and have the bills spread out to make his banking easier.

But in the end a inferior mouse dosnt keep it from being a Superior computer

I love my mouse with my laptop. I wouldn't go any other way.

I've never had a problem with Windows. It suits me fine.
