Application Error once every 1/2 hour - How to fix?

Hi,

Civ IV crashes to the Windows Desktop ones every 1/2 hour because of an application error. The event is logged in the Windows XP Event Viewer (Log included at the end of this post). The offset in civilization4.exe where the error occurs varies.

The problem occurs whether I am playing MP or SP, small or large maps.


How do I fix this issue?

I already tried:
- newest NVidia drivers
- ending all running processes before starting Civ IV
- different settings in the CivilizationIV.ini mentioned in this forum
- playing in windowed mode
- reinstalled Civilization IV
- enabled the Civ IV logging in the ini, but the logs get not updated when a crash occurs

My Software versions and system specs.:
Civilization IV 1.74
Windows XP SP 2
AMD 3200+ XP
2GB RAM
NVidia GF 7800 GS+ (512MB RAM) (Driver v. 93.71 - also tried newest version)

Uh, I'm having the exact same problem, so if someone COULD provide help... I'd appreciate it

This problem has been recurring for me, but on occasions I seem to have it fixed. The errors themselves occur intermittently while playing the game, but consistently on trying to leave for the main menu; it always crashes then.

I bet that the problem is overheating- it's a major cause of system instability.
