Ara vs Civ VII

Some of the people in this thread were testers, so they have in fact played it.
It's great to have the insiders around, but playing act1 on a technical alpha is not the same as playing the whole game. I think it will be interesting to see how the triumph interact with the prestige system and other game mechanics in the later acts.

Ara’s Regions & Zones seems to be the future of the 4X genre. I fully expect Humankind 2 and Civilization VIII both to implement similar systems. Conversely, I expect Ara 2 (or possibly an expansion pack) to introduce elevation into its maps.

Ara has gorgeous UI. Humankind did as well, and it didn’t save that game, but Civ VII’s seems too minimalistic and lacking in comparison.

Lol, we are already talking about Ara 2 and Civ 8 :D

Yes, I'm excited to see how these regions and zones fare over time. Some people will really miss the hex system that Civ has though so I am not sure if Civ 8 will be able to fully move away from hexes, especially since Civ gets so much customer base from the non hardcore strategy gamer, many of whom are into board games. Maybe they could do a region/zone system but using hexes still.
