I was just wondering if there were any codes because in civ 2 there was and it was a hell of alot of fun :goodjob: !

I don't think there are any cheats..... I may be wrong, I about never use cheats and normally don't look for any, but I've been looking at these forums for a pretty long time and haven't seen anything about cheats.

Can anyone prove me wrong?

There are no cheats in Civ 3.

You mean other than renaming a .sav file multi.sav and being able to see everything and change production of a rival civ?

I remember hearing about that.... It was a pretty long time ago through and must have forgot. Thanks for reminding me anyway!

I don't think a cheat is either a strategy or a tip. Moving to Civ3 General Discussion. Although it might be considered a tip....well, already moved...

Of course a cheat isn't a strategy or a tip. A strategy is the way you use units/cities etc. to win. A tip is mainly something to give help to the new people in the game. A cheat is just a simple way to waste 50$ on a game.

There are "trainers" for civ3.. when i want a quick FUN game i'll load up a trainer and have the world against me.. like limit myself to one city and have nukes in the BC.. then watch the flood of units come at me.. fun for a while.

The real fun to the game is playing a LONG game... and i mean the games are long.. i thinking longer then other 2 civ's.

The AI is very good even though i think the AI is cheating big time.

I disagree with you that cheats are a waste of 50$ on a game because with cheats u can put ur own rules or change some things that will make the game more fun to you.
Also in civ2 i played fair for few months until i got tired of playing 100% with the default rules and used the CHEAT option to change some things to make it fun.
There are some editors and stuff in civ3 but i would prefer the cheats of civ2.

I still think it is a waste of money.... What's the point of buying a game to say you beat it in three seconds by nuking everyone? Once you beat the game atleast once then go on cheat all you want it adds to the game, but never cheat when you haven't beat it. It ruins the whole point of buying it.

didnt u read my post? i said i play it fair and beat the computer fair for some months, and after i get tired of beating the computer then i use the cheats to change some things i dont like, to make the game better. Im not talking about making thousands of nukes, im talking about for example making the tanks to have more movement, or making the bombers to make more damage when they bomb a city, or making the artillery to have 3 of range, or making the cruise missile to have more range too (because 2 of range is not enough)... thats what i mean, im not talking about making thousands of units or nukes using cheat.

There was a cheat people talked about with suing for peace and asking for 9999999... (I don't know how many 9's) in gold, or something along those lines.

I've never done it and I don't know if it was addressed in 1.17 or not.

Yes indeed. Something Firaxis forgot for Civ III - fun. We could do so much more with the Cheat Mode and scenario building.

Yep, there are plenty of them
Trouble is, you have to be the AI to use 'em :)

There are in version one. Firaxis keeps killing them in the patches for some reason.

Its easy in the Editor. Take away all of the other civ's UUs and give them to yourself. Than make those units twice as strong (with 10 MPs) and a cost of 10 shields. In general settings, set it so you start with 50,000 gold. Sure everone will have it but what the heck. Go to governments screen and give yourself all 6 Civ. atributes and 2 extra civ. advances; might I sugest Republic and Map Making (for the government advantage at the start and to explore quicker). There are others. Be creative!

For those who never played Civ 2, the Cheat Mode therein was most valuable for many things other than "cheating".

For example, if a game was going nowhere I could switch to barbarians with their map view - and thus quickly run the game for a century or two and see how it goes.

Cheats are always great for testing new units and mods.

Editing Firaxis' brainless mod is not cheating.

As for the Civ II Cheat Mode, it had many uses as we all remember other than simple "cheating". We could play as barbarians and run through a few quick centuries of a dragging game. We could check to see if a starting position was hopeless. We could switch sides and see if we could do better with a more interesting and challenging strategic situation, etc.

The lact of a Cheat Mode, and scenario-building, are major faults with the game.

matt_johnson, you still there? You haven't replied to any of the posts. I hope you arn't one of those rude people who start a coversation and then leave and not take part.
