Are there any civs you avoid playing because their too overpowered?

Nope. I'm a big fan of routs. :)

In general, I select random civilization. The only time I don't want to play with a civ is when I've been randomly assigned it too often.

The Mongols and the Egyptians are probably the first civs I stop playing as I get ready to move a difficulty level - they suit my style of play. I am a builder/war-monger at heart: Keshiks and Khans are amazing; and Burial Tombs make it too easy to maintain large, happy, puppet empires.

Indeed, i go random 95% of the time as I enjoy playing as all of them but it will be a large number of games in between seeing any one civ from time to time so its fun to pick out one here and there. Usually the DLC ones, as my randomizer seems not to pick any of them outside of Babylon. I don't find any civ a sure thing on emperor with how I play the game, i'm at about 50% win/loss regardless. But if I had to pick one, I think with the right cards dealt to you, its much easier to get a great start IMO as Spain. Nothing like finding the barrier reef first and getting money for two settlers.... but that is one in a million games so I guess its all blended to me at this point.

I tend to not pick the persians that often because every game ends up being a golden age steamroll. I also avoid picking the iroquis because they fit my play style so perfectly and every game is just a matter of when i decide to assert their dominance. I used to avoid picking the siam and greek due to their reliance on buying up city states and how boring that can play out at times. I guess i also avoid the mongols but thats because i dont want every game to be me shoosting arros at people then running away. They nailed the mongols in both civ 5 and civ revolution, making them the most fun and dominant civ in the games....but that process can only be repeated so many times before you realize its the same thing happening over and over again.

I never play Japan. Does anyone else guess 'if I go random this time I'll get XXX Civ' and get it right more times than you'd expect?

I like random, but after I get my random one I save, then I exit and go to the main menu and scour the civpedia planning. I get really geeked out by the whole process of looking at the UAs and UUs/UBs in detail, planning the best techs to get them, seeing what research paths they'll take me on and what wonders that will open up, how they synergize, etc. I also decide if I'm going to be a good guy (Siam) or a bad guy (Mongols) and roleplay it a little.

I tend to not pick the persians that often because every game ends up being a golden age steamroll.

Huh. How do you achieve this? When I play Persia my population always catches up with my happiness and I don't get many golden ages. Are you telling your cities to avoid growth or something?

I love random but Babylon is usually a reason to reroll. I can't help but follow the same strategy with them.

For the rest Persia and France, but that's not just because they're OPm I just don't like the way they play as much. I also reroll Denmark and Mongol often, but that's because I dislike war.

Korea I didn't bought the DLC because they are to powerfull..

And other reasons but that is one of the reasons i would not buy it even if the game is fixed

I didn't buy Korea for the same reason. Sure, it would be barrel of laughs to throw a spaceship up in 1400 AD, but I don't want them ruining every game I try with other civs. Runaways are a real problem with OP or super aggressive AIs.

Mongol and France. Just one game of total keshik dominance was enough for me to make mongols boring to play. Frances early game is totally different from other civs and I feel feel totally spoiled when I go back to play other civs and not get early policies so fast.

No, I generally adjust difficulty by difficulty level. If I feel something is overpowered, then I can play it up a difficulty level. If it's underpowered, then down a difficulty level. :)

OP Civs that I don't like to play as: China and Babylon.

Non-OP Civs that I avoid: Germany and... meh Siam I guess. I tend to play with biased starts and Siam's biased start is bleh...
