I could imagine Maragret Thatcher playing Civ, pillaging all her own mines, firing all the specialists and giving in to every demand from America.
Off the top of my head I can think of KMadCandy who posts an awful lot and giggles, she's more a diplomacy rather than smash heads sort of player, and Moonsinger who is really good and just kills everyone with Quechas by 2500BC or something normally.

Both of my housemates (one male, one female) are major civ fanatics - just as much as I am, if not moreso. They're grad students so they get a lot more time to play it than I do (whatever they may claim). Anyway, they're a couple, and tend to curl up together with their laptops, acting all soppy and saccharine, while in fact they're actually beating the stuffing out of each other in a two player game of Civ 4. In fact, she has a reputation for being better at combat and more militaristic than he is. As far as I can tell, she usually wins when they play against each other, but we have another civ-playing friend whom they find hard to beat even as a team.
They'd probably both easily thrash me, but I don't play multiplayer myself; my turns tend to take between 5 minutes and half an hour each, depending on whether I'm at war.

This poll has been done hundreds of times. If I remember correctly, about 10% of the civfanatics who react on the poll are females. Whether the civfanatics who react on the poll are a representative group remains to be seen.

Curious, all these claims about female Civ Fanatics, yet nobody in this thread has identified themselves as such...
My wife is hugely into Civ. Hilarious to hear her screaming bloody murder at sneak attacks, not being given the opprtunity to change civics (specifically organized religion upgrade when you are the first to think of Monotheism) and other bugs. Her sister is into it too.
While not a fanatic, it's one of the few puter games my wife enjoys.
I play other online mmo's but she has no taste for them. This one though she likes.
She doesn't however belong to any boards. she doesn't like them. If I find a thread for her to read, I'll send her a link and she'll read it, but she won't sign up or post on any board anywhere.

Female CIV players is a rumor perpetuated by CivFanatics at Firaxis' behest. These rumors coupled with cute leaderheads are designed to attract the young male market. Said one Take2 marketing agent " These young men don't know how to operate a woman, they just know they want one."

I don't know of anybody in my area that plays Civ. I also think it odd though that no one on this thread so far has said they are female.
Harsh..if they are trying to attract a certain demograph..why would they make a comment like that?

If no females have responded already its probably because they haven't seen it yet or they have already identified themselves in previous threads. Give it some time. Most girls, in these forums, seem good natured enough to pop in and say Hi.

What a horribly immuture way of thinking. Honestly, the human obsession with division is mind boggling. We love to put ourselves into little groups and from opions and sterotypes about all the other little segmets of humanity. Civ is a game PEOPLE play, regardless of what dangles between their legs. There are people that do anythind and everything, regardless of what group they are in.
