I don't think so. I think the people at Maxis are busy working on Spore and The Sims.

There was a brief mention in the latest PC Gamer that a new Sim City and a new Sims game was being worked on, but that's about all I know.

Just checked the simtropolis forum and there is no new SimCity game in the works. The best I could find was a speculation that if you count the years between each new release, then there should be one in the middle of 2007.

Sim City 4 was produced under EA and it wasn't that terrible...

There is no mention of that in the "future of SimCity" thread over there. First time I hear it. Glad to hear it too . Better post something about it then.

Sim City 4 was produced under EA and it wasn't that terrible...

I think SimCity 4 was the best rendition of the series yet as A) plugins are extremely easy to install B) you can make custom regions C) the U-Drive function is fun to drive around your own creation with and D) buiding roads diagonally lets your city look more natural. Although a big qualm I have for it is the lack of any easy terrain editing tools that allow you to easily terraform terrain for a smooth coastline.

I never cared for u-drive it. It's just a lame minigame to me. Sim City 4 has tedious micromanagement which annoys me to no end.
