I mean physical stores? I am not buying a digital copy of the game but I want the bonuses. Are there any physical stores in America that have them?

This is what I'm waiting to hear...I have a Gamestop giftcard that's been burning a whole in my wallet.

You can check the confirmed features/versions thread stickies at the top of the forum. There's the collectors edition in stores, but I think that's it. Right now the best edition IMO is the D2D Deluxe, with Babylon, 2 Civs and Scenario pack dlc, Civ III, behind the scenes video, and soundtrack. I was going to buy retail myself, but that deals too good to pass up, and it's the same price as the steam Deluxe, at $60. Or you can pay regular price at D2D and still get the 2 civ/ scenario pack dlc and civ III.

Damn it, I really hate buying digital content like this. Especially when it costs so much. The occasional PSN game is fine considering that most are under $15, but when I buy a full game I want to have the Box and Disc.

quick question on he d2d version. after you install in and steam activates it, will it be added to your steams game list so you can re-download it again later through steam without going back to d2d? I know i bought modern warfare 2 retail and now i can download it whenever i want on steam; i was just wondering if there was a difference with d2d. The d2d deal is better but i would prefer to have my game re-downloaded on steam if i needed in the future because i think its more convenient to download and install games then d2d. I don't know if anyone knows this yet or if they have experience with other d2d games that use steam?

Ya, D2D gives you a key on your account page, you enter it in steam, then it's just as if you bought it from steam. So you don't ever have to deal with D2D again if you don't want to. Civ III is downloaded from D2D.

Does anyone know when D2D sends you the Steam Key?

The reason for the question:
If Civ5 is available for pre-download then will D2D send the key out before release day, or will they email it on Sept 21st?
Does purchasing through D2D mean I have to abandon my hopes of beating the download rush?

That is definitely my #1 concern with D2D. I don't want to have to wait to get Civ 5 :P.

You might mail that question to the D2D support helpdesk.

If Gamestop sells PC games anymore (I haven't seen them at mine recently they're at Best Buy though) then without a doubt there will be some pre-order bonus announced sometime soon. Like every game from there recently has had them to boost pre-orders as well as having codes that give free stuff for new copies to destroy the used game market. With a game as big as Civ I'm certain a pre-order bonus will be there.

Gamestop does have a preorder and they only guarantee the price and that they mail it to you the day before so you have it on release day. You can also do in-store pick-up on release day, but they don't say anything about a pre-order bonus.

@ When D2D gives you the steam key, I believe its right when you buy it, or when they charge goes through. Then you can put it in Steam, I believe, and it will show up on your games list but you wont let you download it, obviously :). A user posted he had bought it there, and thats what he said.

@Dlc, Greg said no matter what version you buy everyone will be able to get the dlc when its available for sale. Im sure some may be available on launch, but who knows. He didnt say.
