That is definitely my #1 concern with D2D. I don't want to have to wait to get Civ 5Does anyone know when D2D sends you the Steam Key?
The reason for the question:
If Civ5 is available for pre-download then will D2D send the key out before release day, or will they email it on Sept 21st?
Does purchasing through D2D mean I have to abandon my hopes of beating the download rush?

You might mail that question to the D2D support helpdesk. That is definitely my #1 concern with D2D. I don't want to have to wait to get Civ 5.
Gamestop does have a preorder and they only guarantee the price and that they mail it to you the day before so you have it on release day. You can also do in-store pick-up on release day, but they don't say anything about a pre-order bonus. If Gamestop sells PC games anymore (I haven't seen them at mine recently they're at Best Buy though) then without a doubt there will be some pre-order bonus announced sometime soon. Like every game from there recently has had them to boost pre-orders as well as having codes that give free stuff for new copies to destroy the used game market. With a game as big as Civ I'm certain a pre-order bonus will be there.
