Long time listener, first time caller.
I've just slogged throught the cf tech forums and haven't quite found an answer to the question on my mind as I consider patching to 1.52.
Seems to me that my question would be shared by others, so here goes:
Is anyone finding problems with the 1.52 patch on new, mid to high end commercial home pcs that don't have any hack software on them?
By mid-to-high I mean 256 ATI vid, 1 gig ram. Not cutting edge, but new and without any haxxor software that has caused problems for others. [Incidentally, I've had intermittent problems with the copy-protection, even on my cd-rom no-write drive!
I've never put civ4 in the burn drive and it still doesn't like the commercial copying software on my new hp, but the program can't seems to make up its mind- shoot craps and if you get a 2, 3 or 4 it won't load b/c of copy-prot. Thanks firaxis!]
The game's playing fine right now, but I'm looking forward to the game balances and other improvements. Also, I won't be doing any modding, I'm just your typical player, so if anyone's had 1.52 problems roughly fitting these user details, I think plenty of us would be glad to know about them.
So do I risk it?
p.s.: game mags and sites should give civ4 an award invented specifically invented for it:
