Are Twins Happier?

Wow there sure are alot of twins here and most of them agree with my negative views of being a twin, THATS AMAZING. I will elaborate on one of the bad points of being a twin. (being associated with your twin) Being associated with your twin is okay if your twin is cool and bearable if he is average but if he is a huge nerd/dork/wuss/geek like mine is then it is awful. My brother is totally noncompetitive and never sticks up for himself, he is also ugly and nerdy, this reflects badly on me. I have tried with varying sucess to become cooler. It has often worked but my twin has not tried to and he is always dragging me down. It sucks being associated with an unpopular twin. You know what the most common question I get asked is? Well you will now, it's "Hey, happy why don't you cut your brother's hair when he's asleep". (He has an ugly mullet/rat tail that is really knotty) The second most common question I get asked is "Do you and your brother ever fight." As if I want to talk about my brother all day long.

I'm an identical twin. Nothing too different from other people. It gets really annoying when people ask "Are you smarter than your brother?"

Or more like:

"Hey **** (his name...)"
I don't respond.
"I mean Ben. Sorry!"
"Oh hi! Didn't see you their!"

Or...

"Who's smarter, you or your brother?"
"My brother"
"oh..."

Of course, switching classes was always fun. Pissed teachers off.

Did you just call a guy who looks just like you nerdy and ugly looking?

That ones almost too easy :D

Seriously though...How old are you? He's still your brother and I wouldn't sacrifice your brother for the sake of popularity that won't matter in a few years(assuming your in high school).

Like Chinese and Japanese and Korean all look the same... But if you are one, you can tell the difference. Maybe you only care enough to try to distinguish between twins if you ARE a twin.

Not really a good analogy because all twins everywhere don't look alike. It just come easily to me to tell similar people apart. My brother is the same way. Might be a gift unrelated to being a twin

The last complaint is so very true. I'm sick of being asked that with every new person I meet.

Of course, I still win all our fights. Being the one who works out rocks. *flexes bicep* :D

Yes, it does rock to be the stronger twin. I should point out like I did in my original post that I am a twin but not identical, besides since he grew his hair long its imposible to realize were related, unfortunantly were not important enough to be remembered as "h4ppy and it" but instead as "h4ppy or it"

true, but you forgot one advantage: being 6'5" tall and having an identical twin saves you a lot of bullieing in school (I had two guys like that in my class)

Not to mention always having someone to blame if you commit a crime :)

I have twin daughters who are now in 7th grade. I think that they would agree that being twins has been a big advantage for them, and they are both happy, well-adjusted people. It is a big plus to know that you have a built-in best friend in new situations. For my part, I have always encouraged them to go with their own strengths and interests (which are definitely different!). I have never treated them like the 'twins unit'.

Ya that "do you two ever fight?" question is bloody annoying. Course we fight, we fight more then everyone else that I know. And it's actual fights. He locked me out of the house once and was making faces at me through the window on the door, so I punched through the glass and hit him in the nose. He chucked me off the roof once(grabed my by the scruff of my neck and by a belt loop and just heaved me off) But the absolute best so far was he came home from work all drained of energy layed down on the floor to strech I came by with a Dictonary(A real dictionary about 6 inches thick and weighing about 10 pounds) and droped it on his stomach from 6 feet up. He was complaing about tired he was so I "suggested" that he go read a book to put himself to sleep.

Ah good times.

We just learned WF's name is Ben. :p

Seemed like WF would milk this twin thing for all it's worth to create trouble. ;)

I'm happy enough with just an older sister. If I had a twin, I'd become even more of an attention monger. If that's humanly possible. :p

I do have 3 brothers and 1 sister, all younger than me, (thus no twins...). My oldest brother is not just a brother, but a close friend too. Many people see us as a couple, more or less like twins I guess.

I left mammy in august 1992, my brother in 1994. In august 2002, I asked my brother to move in at my place. Works out great! Somehow we grow closer and closer. An he always pays the rent in time ;) .

I always thought it was Dan  I'm going to keep my dignity by not explaining why...

I would hate to be a twin. Just the whole association thing would get me, although I like the idea of swapping classes/girlfriends - what identical twin friends of mine did. T'was funny :)

Yep another identical twin here (me).

It is obviously helpful if you want to play a multiplayer game.... :)

Usually the twin has a much easier time comprehending why his or her relative does certain things.

The primary disadvantage is that people become obsessed with using the term "they" and plural manner of speech when it is not justified. These people often do not realize that each twin thinks exactly like a seperate single person (which each is).

P.S. It is possible for twins to disagree although this is substaintially less common than among non-twins it appears.

I would consider it an advantage to have a twin. Both twins usually remain permently "allied" (most of the time). And generally prefer to do similiar activities (although not one hundred percent exactly the same). The quasi condescending attitude some people seem to acquire is miniscule in comparison.

One finally, thing: I am right handed, my indentical twin is left handed...... This is phenomena is sometimes called mirror twins.

Emo, do you get some sort of sick pleasure out of spamming?
