Are you going to play the turorial?

I always go straight to the game then read the manual after I get stuck! It’s a bad habit I know but it’s the way I start every new game I buy.

I fail to see the point of both a manual and a tutorial. One or the other should be enough for anyone to learn what they need to do to play the game. Having both is overkill.

I'll stick to the manual though.

Yes, without a Civilopedia I'd play a tutorial, but I think Civ II and Civ III players know enough to start right away and discover some things by themselves

Read the manual on the way home from the gaming store or while it installs if it's a gift. Play my first game. Then begin exploring the editor. Then the text files, then probably into another game, then mod something, then play the mod. Or something.

I'll read the manual on the train and bus on my way home from buying it, then I'll play the tutorial, then I'll play the game. I find it helps, did when I played Star Trek Armada 2.
